Mophie Juice Pack for the iPhone
TestingNearly a year after the release of the iPhone, Mophie has given Apple the help they needed in resolving the short battery life issue. The Mophie juice pack gave the equivlent of a full charge on our iPhone. This means that we had an additional up to 250 hours of standby time, 8 hours of talk time, 24 hours of audio playback, 7 hours of video playback, and 6 hours of internet use. As any iPhone user will tell you, this is a big deal if you want to play with your phone a lot. The juice pack has a nice secure fit onto the iPhone, allowing you to use your iPhone as freely as you would any other time. The low profile design is thick enough for you to know its there, but not worry that it wont comfortably fit into your pocket. Mophie wanted you to retain all functionality of this phone while the juice pack was in use, so they have cut out a notch in the top of the juice pack that allows the user to take pictures. At the bottom they have made slots where the speaker and microphone area have been cut out, doing the same.
To check the battery level remaining on your juice pack, there is a button on the back with an LED indicator. The LED indicator is composed of 4 LED's that Light in a group of either one, two, three, or four; one being low and four being high power. While docked on the juicepack, the iPhone retains full functionality, similar to if the phone were plugged into the wall. When tested the Mophie juice pack actually performed better than expected. It claimed to restore one full charge to the iPhone, however, testing resulted in about one and a half charges. The only negative that we encountered about this juice pack was that it claimed to be "All juiced up and ready to go… straight out of the box!". When we recieved the Mophie Juice pack it was completely dead. Maybe not the biggest problem in the world, but you may want to unpack and charge the juice pack before you put it in the glove box of your car. Another issue that is to be expected is that you can not have a cover or any type of case on your iPhone. The Mophie juice pack stood up to the test, and actually out performed its claims for batttery life. Whether your a business owner that requires the security of a fully charged cell phone or someone that just keeps forgetting to charge your iPhone at night, the Mophie juice pack is a great addition for any iPhone user that has issues with the battery life.
