AMD 3800+ X2

Manufacturer:  AMD

Final thoughts

Continuing on with the final thoughts from the 4800+ X2 review, we as consumers will not be able to reap the benefits of a 64-bit processor with 64-bit OS with 64-bit applications (across the board) for quite some time. With both AMD and Intel pushing 64-bit processors, the development of 64-bit application will soon come. So, in the meantime the question remains, do you have the cash to purchase the AMD X2 now, or do you purchase the single core 64 bit 3000+ and save your cash to purchase the top of the line processor next time around or just a better video card? AMD has set a price point for the 3800+ X2 that will be just right for many consumers looking to make the leap to dual core technology. With the maximum wattage of the X2 3800+ being a mere 89w and the CPU voltage sitting at 1.35vcore, you are sure to get excellent performance without burning a hole in your case or your wallet.

Conclusion

The 3800+ X2 is an excellent performer and if the price falls within your budget, then purchasing this processor will be worth every penny. The 3800+ X2 is much less expensive that its big brother the 4800+ X2, which will definitely open the market up to the consumer who can't afford the top of the line AMD processor, but wants the benefits of an AMD dual core. Bottom line is the 3800+ X2 is an excellent choice if you are considering a single core processor, as you will not only gain performance but also lower heat and the ability to multitask like the pros.
