The software that High Point includes with the HPT404 is very useful.

All of the features that are in the BIOS are included in the ATA RAID Management software, and they are all located under the Configuration and Management tabs (Figure 5).

The View tab (Figure 6), displays any current arrays. The Event View sub-tab logs any events that occur while the software is running.

The Management tab (Figure 7) has a very, very nice feature. Presumably, with large rack servers, the annoying beeps of the onboard speaker might not be heard. With this in mind, High Point has seen to it that there is another method of notifying the user of device failure: email. The user can specify an SMTP server, the sender, and the administrator. Mail can be sent for informative purposes, warnings, or errors. This is a very management friendly feature that is good to see. Overall the included software is very functional and assists array management greatly.
