Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4850
Game Benchmarking The following games will be used to test the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4850: -Half Life 2: Episode 2 -Call of Duty 4 -Crysis
Half Life 2: Episode 2 Half
Life 2E2 is a popular game, and just like for Crysis and Call of Duty
4, the prospective graphics card shopper will want to know how the card
can handle the graphics of games with which they may already be
familiar. To benchmark using this game, I will be using a program
called FRAPS, which upon pressing
F11, it will record the frames-per-second response and calculate the
minimum, maximum and average up until the point at which F11 is again
pressed. In addition, HL2E2 provides a built-in benchmark by providing
the average FPS in the terminal after the time demo has run.
The
time demo is a recording that was previously made for the purposes of
graphics card reviews here at TechwareLabs. The opening sequence of the
game was captured with the intent of having a lot of movement, and
mostly involves throwing various objects at the girl and eventually
witnessing the energy blast.
Call of Duty 4Similar to
the above, FRAPS is used here to gather the data. The time demo was
previously recorded during a multiplayer game with a lot of action and
explosives. Again, it is a standard to be used within reviews conducted
at TechwareLabs.
Crysis
For Crysis, a program called the Crysis Benchmarking Tool is to be used. This is a straight-forward program where you can select
all of the settings and click "run." The program will then launch
Crysis and the camera will rotate around a 3D environment, and output
the minimum, maximum and average frames-per-second. The demo is the
same for every run so the numbers achieved can be referenced whenever
this benchmark is used.
