Some DROID 2 Users Experiencing Signal Issue

When Applelaunched the iPhone 4, a number of customers complained that when they held the phone a certain way, their reception was greatly diminished. In a press conference held a few weeks after the phone’s launch, Jobs demonstrated that the problem could be reproduced on a number of other smartphones. This was a problem that was present in any phone with an internal antenna, he said. If you cover the portion of the phone with the antenna, you’re going to get the same result. Though the makers of the phones user in the demo were quick to criticize Apple for dragging other’s into its mess, it seems Motorola could be faced with its own ‘antennagate.’

The DROID 2 hit Verizon late last week, and according to MobileCrunch, early reports suggest some users are experiencing signal issues. Greg Kumparak writes that four out of four of Engadget’s review units show endlessly fluctuating bar counts. Throw in one of the two units MobileCrunch received and the unit that Phonescoop received and you’ve got half a dozen problem units in the hands of the press alone. The comments on the story show a mix of DROID 2 owners with signal issues and without. Those experiencing problems appear to be scattered throughout the country, with complaints coming from Ohio, Los Angeles, and North Carolina.
