BS/POS Comp
So the mobo/CPU/HSF were lying around at work and I pointed it out to the boss and he said "see what you can do with it at home, it's yours" So I took it home, bought a CHEAP ($12 chipped) case from some site and threw some parts in it.
Parts are:
MSI 745 Ultra Mobo
1.1 ghz Duron
512mb Corsair Value Ram (borrowed from other machine for now)
9800 Pro (also borrowed from other machine for now)
36/12/48 cd burner (again, borrowed)
350W generic PSU that I had lying around
WD 40 gig that was lying around..
Intel NIC that I had lying around.
I found out why the case was only $12..
I thought it was going to be sharp as hell and cut me, but nope! Very well rounded...
I thought it wouldn't have fan ports, nope.. SIX of em!
It didn't come with a PSU though..
No, it's cheap because I couldn't get the 9800 pro in there because of how poorly that area was deisgned. I had to totally destroy part of the case to get it in, and now I am not sure how i'll get it out..
The mobo is poorly designed as well.. The trapped 9800 pro also is trapping the primary IDE cable.. I had to nudge the secondary under as well for the cd-rw.
I also had a hell of a time taking off the HSF to get some as5 on there, but that pink pad of crap ruined the experience (I tried to get it off, but it got scratched to hell so I put some as5 on and said uff it..
I found out that HS on the left of the northbridge has mosfets under it.. Cool idea!
I'm gonna install windows on this and see if I want to invest in the rest of the parts for the system and what kind of system I want it to be..
If you're interested in buying the CPU/MOBO/HSF, Let me know; I still havef the box that it came in, and I can include a driver disc if you want. (You could buy the case/psu/whatever else you wanted too, just let me know and we can work something out)
Here's a pic!
