All those connection speed tests just depress me (56k here).  It took me like, 5 minutes to download some picture off RoadRunner's Wisconsin bandwidth test, at 4 kilobytes/sec, and 34 kilobits/sec.

A better bandwidth tester is http://www.netwurx.net/bw

DO NOT USE IT IF you have dail-up.  It transers a large file 5 times and gets an average.

Sorry that the link isn't working any more.  Here's another site that I found pretty interesting.  DSLReports.com has one.  Just select DSLR Tools and then Speed Tests.  Click on either a link for the west or east coast and wait for the test to be over.

Personal Opinion here so please don't flog me too bad

All the speed tests are totally a waste of time. You can have all the bandwidth in the world and go to a site to download your "file" you're looking for and if they are running a dialup connection well that's what you're gonna get.

Traffic is traffic. If no one is on the highway you cruise right along, but as soon as it's rush hour forget it.

Bandwidth is nice but putting all your faith in a bandwidth test. Bah it's a waste of space, time and bandwidth alltogether.

When you get DSL/Cable yada yada you're getting bandwidth. So test away my friends. I know what I pay for and what I get.

Life is good isn't it? Dialup's I feel for ya!! Really I do. Bandwidth will make it to before too long. Rest assured.

I'll show you, lousy admin!  Just because I have no bandwidth, doesn't mean I can't take your stupid test to prove it!  I don't need your pity! > [Please send me more bandwidth  :'(]

I was taking some bandwidth test somewhere else, for fun, and they had like, 300 kbps down, and about 2 mbps up, lol.  Interesting combination.
