i found out recently that bess utilitizes some ports blocks the others - except for 21-23. i dont know if this is true - but if it is, there are 3 unmonitered ports

Ok this is my first time using this thing. but to answer a question... is there a way to get around websense??? there is a way but you will have to do something to your server in order to do it. if you have access to your server or can hack into it you can take websense down. However, websense has its own password that you need to hack into that. i have websense at home and i cant take it down, from a computer other than my server. so if you find away please let me know so i can do it at school

my schools internet is routed out of our servers, through a firewall, out to Noeca, through their censor (bess) and then through their firewall. it used to be you could route it through another proxy, or off a reflector, but last time i tried that i got to the gateway - cn.servep2p.com - and my internet was shut down before i got anywhere. which is more likely: someone up high reviewed the site and shuts off anyone who accesses it (it goes by account name, not IP or Mac address) or theyve found a way to filter out that type all together?

also, is it possible that Noeca could even trace or moniter the network account of our school, through the firewall, with only 1 or 2 universally open ports, neither of which are designed for such transfer?

None of you are focusing in on the point. No matter what we do they will find out then block it. We are in a race to see who could get ahead of who and this race would be run for the entire time you are in school.
If you wan't to stop bess and other internet security systems start getting kids ivolved in the problem. My school just got bess this year and within two days all of our games,chat,e-mail,and tatorials were blocked.
I got a few kids together and we made a patition to the school board that if they did not take of the bess system we would become the worst students they ever had. After we did a few disruptions in school they finaly agreed to take off bess.
Some ideas to help your plan unfold to your advantage is get at least 50 people to help you out.(with how annoying bess is I don't think there will be any trouble reacruting even more than that) After that is done start to patition the district by saying things like. Without this web site I can not get the information I need in order to complete my work in school, make excusses for needing and e-mail accout because that is the only way to get files from your home computer to school.
If that does not work then try to start small pations in the school. Then slowly they will relise that students are as important as the teachers. Things at my school unfolded just right and we had bess removed within two months.

but that takes all the fun out.........

You learn so much about networking trying to bypass

"hacking" as the school would call it is much more fun

besides I have to say that story about the peitition is BS

it is a federal law to have the filter in place unless you go to a private school or you are outside the USA.

Otherwise the school cant take bess off without some kind of replacement....

gccjosh 04-24-2004 10:28 PM

they did use a replacement that blocked only porn completly and violence to a lesser degree than bess and some chat. They also gave us yahoo, msn, and aim messeger services that were blocked with bess.

That fun that you call it can get you into trouble if they catch you. I tried to do the same thing all of you are doing and they threatened to kick me out of high school and make me get a ged. Any form of hacking can result in an automatic suspension from any school district in the us if it is reported. If any college finds out that you were hacking in your old school they will not except you unless it is a private school or the offense of hacking was not very serious.

i think pro is right . . . its definitely more satisfying when you learn how to bypass them legally . . . that said - bess here has been upgraded, shuts off the internet to your individual account if you bounce. VisCheck.com still works... that means there are still ways!
