what the hell?

well obviously this guy didn't know what he was doing because it is not the only way...

which games do you want to host?

i seperated all the port numbers sequentially and set them up for each game to run through that port. may be a little more complex this way but i know all my open/fixed ports.

if you give me the names of the games i probably could give u the port listing for it.

or if you're not especially worried about hackers then go for the dmz host, its a quick fix i guess... oh yeh, if u set it to dmz give me your ip ;) j/k 8)

I play rainbowsix and age of the empires 2 , do you think you could give me the port numbers, and then how do i open them?? and will i have to do this to both of my computers or do it in the router?

You'll do this in the router. Generally there's a web-based configuration page (http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 are common), where you'll set up new entries for NAT Port Forwarding or Virtual Servers.

I don't know those ports offhand, but if no one else knows, I'll look 'em up.

Some games will let you do this and some will not. I have Rogue Spear and the Raven Shield Demo. Rogue Spear will only allow me to host games if the server is set as the DMZ and Raven Shield let's me use port forwarding. try opening a range of ports and routing them to the servers IP. It's really easy man. just go in there and try a few things. play with it man, it won't bite you.

about quake 3...

I cannot connect to any online game. I have a 100% ligit cd key and it always gives me the invalid cdkey thing. I know that it is because of my dmz host. I am currently not the DMZ host but my bro controls the router and i cannot change that. Now is there a way i can get online to play or not?

Thx for the help in advance

You would have to just be a client. Unless you can forward those ports there is really not much else you can do.

RE: The guy who said it's easy to just open ports for games

Ok, the port for RF Demo is 7755, right?! I opened that port, just like everyone else who can't get it to work, and still no go. If it's so easy, then tell me how. I'm dying to know...
Obviously either RF demo is using another port as well, or a UDP port, or a non-TCP/IP protocol, BUT WHICH?! Becuase it doesn't appear to be published. I have a port list of ALL the TCp and UDP ports and failing opening all, or trying one by one, just opening the port 7755 which rf demo uses doesn't fix it. Please enlighten me o' learned one :P

I won't hold my breath...
