Not sure about what you guys mean about "generic". That's a 56X CD-ROM and a 40/16/48 Cyberdrive CD-RW. Both are fast as hell. 8)
I've been contemplating on how I want to Stealth mod them. The bay covers have 3 pieces to them. A generic beige base covered with plexiglass and a piece of shinny aluminum sandwiched between them. Here is what I'm thinking.... A normal stealth mod covers the entire face of the CD-ROM/RW including the LED. This is the drawback to the Stealth Mod. You loose the LED unless you do one of two things. Either rewire your LED and put it someplace else or drill a hole in your bay cover. Since my bay cover has plexiglass on it, I think when the drive light comes on it will illuninate the entire cover. |
generic as in almost everyone has that same looking CD-ROM drive!
ive got a 32x but look just liek that 56x anyways i dont think stealth mod would look good i would paint them black |
Painting them black would make no sense at all. Nothng else on or in the case is black. Heck, nothing on my desktop is black. :P
I just got back from picking up a Dremel and new Kodak Digital Camera. As soon as the battery pack on the Dremel charges I'm gonna start on the CD stealth mod and drill a hole in the bay cover so the CD ROM LED will shine through the plexiglass. |
isnt ur case black though?
are you using a cordless dremel? how fast can it turn? |
Then paint them aluminum color, anything but the ugly stock!
|
aluminum colour???
hmm perhaps use the dry brush technique to give it that brushed aluminum look! |
sweet :)

the rounded IDE cables look like pipes flowing with radioactive materials   |
I have to admit some of the newer mid tower cases are really looking cool these days and your being modified is really really cool looking :) Is that white loom on the inside..?? Does look like coolant pipes haha :)
