assuming mazda goes in the low-end range? :P (yea they're ford but you didn't specify)

w00t for saying BMW's are mid-range.. the BMW m5 isn't mid-range.. it's a fricken gas-gussler.. that puts it in "high end" right there!

Aemon_ 12-14-2004 08:50 AM

yeah, the m5 is kind of a god on wheels.

well it all depends I guess.. all of those low end car manus you mentioned have at least one car thats expensive and at least mid range.

Jason425 12-14-2004 09:36 PM

no.. what vee said was a wake-up call to how stupid cars really are  I guess it's all relative (having an x800xt I guess..) but even the s2000 and miata, etc are all mid-range at best... you aren't leet until you have a mclaren f-1.. but that's so uffing much money, that we normal folk tend to forget about them.. and there is nothing wrong with that.. *goes back to real-life and actually now considering an echo in his search because they're so much cheaper and do the same damn thing..*

Well, IMHO, class doesn't necessarily depend on price, it's got more to do with quality. Quality doesn't change with a few more features, it's pretty consistent of most manufacturing lines.

I agree totally on this matter. Damn, I wish I checked up on these forums more often. You guys are starting car threads without me. Shame...

Anywho, anyone knows that quality is favored over quantity. I don't think a vehicle should be classified by it's price, but more by the craftsmanship, performance, and longevity of the car itself as a whole. Civics are definitley low end vehicles, if anyone was confused on the situation.

techromanian 01-04-2005 07:14 PM

nobody likes civics nomore

Jason425 01-05-2005 12:22 AM

yea.. I was looking at getting one a while back, but I might as well get an echo before a civic.

StinkyMojo 01-05-2005 12:55 PM

If you are going to buy an echo, you'd be better off buying a pinto.

Jason425 01-05-2005 08:45 PM

*buys a pinto*... echos are great cars if all you do is A to B drive...

StinkyMojo 01-06-2005 11:26 AM

and if you keep in mind that you won't get too many chicks turning heads. :P

Jason425 01-06-2005 08:51 PM

I don't have that as a criteria for a car... and i'm sure you get tons of turned heads in that stock civic too :P

Aemon_ 01-06-2005 08:56 PM

psssh. chicks drool over my '91 S10. err, i lied. sorry.

later

Jason425 01-06-2005 09:14 PM

and they drool over my on it's last leg "roguesmobile"... in my dreams anyway .. ;)

there is only one kind of LX model so how can it be STOCK..

thats like saying you have a stock mx1000.. its like wtf

Jason425 01-07-2005 01:35 AM

I do have an mx1000... and it is stock. What ups do you have installed? kthx . :D

what? I dont need a ups.. you get twice as many power surges as me if not more and you live a mile away. so no thanks. ;)

Jason425 01-07-2005 08:50 PM

i'm talking about upgrades to your car... and I don't notice power surges.. but my power does go out more often... but it hasn't this winter yet..

vee_ess 01-07-2005 11:32 PM

Stinky, it's considered stock if you can get it from a dealership in the same configuration.

StinkyMojo 01-07-2005 11:43 PM

well if thats what he means, then almost all cars people buy is stock.. except some smaller feature differences like stick, spoilers, alloys, cargo net, whatever...

vee_ess 01-08-2005 12:12 AM

Those are all stock as well. Throw in your own aftermarket high-voltage coil, or port your headers and it's no longer stock.

Jason425 01-08-2005 12:36 AM

of course they're stock.. that's why you rice it out  that's the point of having a civic anyway

StinkyMojo 01-08-2005 12:55 AM

My goal for having a civic was not to "rice it out". If I were to do that I would have bought a celica. I wanted a nice, reliable car at a cheap price to fit my budget to get from point A to B with school and work. I am 18 (OMG 18!! IM DONE FOR) and the world isnt over, everything comes and goes. I don't care how much you guys say how shitty a 2004 civic LX is. Main point is that I'm happy, and that's what counts.

Jason425 01-08-2005 01:20 AM

StinkyMojo 01-08-2005 01:29 AM

i think a celica is more of a "rice" car becuase it is faster; also depends on what you mean by "rice" specifically

celica gts
180 hp @ 7,600 rpm
and 130 lb.-ft. @ 6,800 rpm in torque.

compared to a civic ex:
114 @ 4800 rpm in torque
127 @ 6300 rpm

of course you see a lot more civics cause they are cheaper and more customizable. think. only once.

Aemon_ 01-08-2005 01:50 AM

my def of riced out - all show and no go. fart cans make no more power, theyre just annoying. civics stock, i like 'em. wouldnt mind having one myself. but as long as the people know that they arent race cars, and never will be race cars, and its all cool. cause my 'pretty much' stock S-10 will handle civics anyday. considering they havent been turbocharged or had nitrious installed.

first thing that came to my mind was a Golf :P

Jason425 01-08-2005 11:53 AM

golf's are not bad cars.. but I don't care for the looks...

sure a celica is faster.. ricing out is like aemon said... all show and no or little go... you hear about someone ricing you hear about farting civics... not celicas...

StinkyMojo 01-08-2005 01:09 PM

A Golf aren't that great of a car either; the bang for the buck dept... they are too highly priced for what they are. they fit the description of all show no go. I personally think that any car with 115 horsepower thats not priced adequatly is bad. but I dunno what deals are going on now though..

Aemon_ 01-08-2005 04:45 PM

my good ole '91 Saturn SL1 has around 100hp, and was 8gs. Thats dealin there. On the cheap yo [/retardation]!

so a hummer is rice bait? (it's in there..) :P

vee_ess 01-09-2005 02:59 PM

The H2 is easily on the top 10 or top 20 lists for rice bait. Its a Suburban with a factory body kit...

Jason425 01-09-2005 04:14 PM

yea ford focus! Basically, the majority of cars can be classified rice bait.. at some point, it becomes pointless to classify... the audi TT is in there too.. that is a car I wouldn't mind having...

That's until you bring up European automotives 8)

vee_ess 01-10-2005 02:45 AM

I can name far more cars that aren't ricerboy toys than are. The TT is not quite in that category yet. And yes, European car manufacturers (excluding the very Japanese vehicle-like VW) aren't rice, along with most Americans.

Aemon_ 01-10-2005 09:04 AM

yeah, i have yet to see a maybach riced out. blinged out (which is just as bad if not worse) maybe, but not riced out. but then again, when your car is all show AND all go, i guess you can do whatever you want with it. i mean, a luxury car that makes 543hp with a twin turbo V12, all i can say is, me want.

http://www.maybachusa.com/

later

Jason425 01-10-2005 09:50 AM

so basically you have to have a lot of $ to spend on a car to get out of ricer-land... but wait.. my 88 olds isn't in ricer land! I win! 8)

Aemon_ 01-10-2005 10:18 AM

never said that. my '99 Saturn isnt riced out, and believe me, i have seen some riced out Saturns. its sad that people will rice out american cars. i mean, c'mon, i can almost see putting japanese characters on a japanese car, but not on an american car.
