i need free stuff because....

my cd burner can't cope with all these cd protection schemes so i can't play the latest games which means i keep playing the same one over and over again nulling my mind and i will never get any work done for TWL

my gfx card can't cope with the latest games so they look crappy and i don't feel good when i complete them so i become depressed and will never get any work done for TWL

my ram (no jokes please) is small so games take ages to load and run crappily so they take ages to complete and i never get any work done for TWL

my monitor is small, and has a huge ass, so i don't have much space on my desk so i can't push the k/b any more so when i play games i don't feel comfortable and never win so become depressed and won't get any work done for TWL

my keyboard and mouse aren't radio/infrared so i can't play games in the comfort of my bed, so i have to get out of bed early, and i get really cold which means i get colds and the flu and will never get any work done for TWL

As you can see, by giving me free stuff, i will be able to fulfill my gaming addiction and then be able to get some work done for TWL! (irc guide, promoting and the quiz section)

I think they got us, they did an analysis of human reaction on the word "free" and they obviously had quite a good success. :lol: :teleport:

I am a university student who was introduced to this board by a friend. I am just a newbie here, but already seem to be fitting in.

I am not really in such a desperate shape as some of the posters here seem to be. I am just a engineering student without much cash left over to spend in my tech hobbies. My sister isn't in the hospital, and I don't live in a box, so I suppose I won't stand a chance of winning this. Even so, if I do win, I will use the prize to add some joy to the little time I have between classes.

Okay, my 8-port switch is WELL over-filled right now (has one dead port) I am resorting to my 10MB 10 and 11 port ATT StarLAN hubs. (super super super old hubs) One of these hubs turns on and off randomly, the other is so loud i can hear it from upstairs...

I am starting up a server and I have a crappy 2 gig drive with a 166 pentium class cpu :( . As you can tell this server is need of massive upgrading only problem is my funds are limited to food and other forms of nessicary things (I know this is a nessicary thing among most things but the truth is I have barly enough to eat two times a day) SO when I get this HD I will finally be able to put up some cool video and audio links and posssibly streaming radio of punk emo techno and oher funs stuff. If I don't get a new hard drive I will just go find a nice corner and cry.

OK, all you students have it easy. I wish I was back there! I graduated this spring, and with a 4 year honors degree, I just got a job at...... a produce warehouse. So as a ray of sunshine in my bleak bleak existence, some free computer related stuff would be just what I need to pick myself out of the gutter. I can't afford to upgrade until my student loan is paid off, so c'mon guys, throw a little sunshine my way!!

its pretty funny how soccer boy won the contest considering i dont see anything funny. i honestly dont think i shud have won either but there were people that were much funnier. but i think soccer boy just won because he hangs out on the forums alot. and that his text he made yellow so it stands out. which is kinda cheating.
