At a lunch conversation three days ago. Sure, the US Media sucks. But I wouldn't put down the people on the board due to the lack of discussion of a political/social issue on a tech board or due to the lack of media attention. The likely point is that neither yourself nor the people you choose to surround yourself with care about anyone other than yourself, and thus you never hear about these things.

As to I think it's time you read some history other than out of a high school textbook. America has helped Central America by supporting death squads to prevent "communism" (really, just welfare capitalism, or at worst, populist economic policy) by scaring peasants by killing and torturing their families, thus preventing them from voting. Or take the support for Iranian dictator until the 1970s, of an Iraqi dictator until 1991, of Israeli occupation, or free trade agreements that wash out any notion of labor or human rights. (note: I am pro-free trade.) I could go on, but I'll touch off this point by just pointing out that America gives less in aid than any other developed country save 1 or 2 (i think it's 2, Spain and Italy, which aren't exactly rich). So, no America does not do a whole lot of helping.

People don't hate America. They hate American policy, they hate American military. I doubt you've actually ever read a survey. People tend to love American music, food, and clothing. They hate American military bases near their religious sites, death squads in their village, and the special forces that grab their sons and fathers with impunity.

Some of us on this board keep abreast of issues globally and try to donate to a number of different funds that we see as productive. Personally, I'm in Botswana right now working on figuring out how to come up with a sustainable program for HIV treatment (almost 40% of this country has HIV).

So why don't you shove those three seasons where the sun doesn't whine. Frankly, you sound like an idiot and a troller.

history is old news. Why continue to bring it up? Im glad we give the least amount of aid. I am tired of seeing billions dollars of aid going out to especially those in africa when our schools here, our poor here, our healthcare here, etc needs help. I know a great way of stopping HIV. Limit the families to one kid, if the mother or father has hiv and has no kids yet then they are banned from having kids. Change their way of life. When the male dies don't let his wife go to his brother so she can pass HIV around. GET with TECHNOLOGY! USE CONDOMS! GROW a BRAIN! Okay may genetic tampering is out of question but it is just a suggestion. BTW what the heck is a troller?
