Decentralizing it just means that they have to find new ways of tracking who's doing what without having the option to just get a subpoena, such as following the information provided by trackers. Trackers aren't hard to get information from, either, since they have to be readily available to everyone to be efficient.

As for open source, that just means the source code is free to look at by anyone. This actually makes it easier for the RIAA and others to try catching the people swapping illegally. Now, for them to write software to track people, they can easily see how to interface their own software with the software used by file-swappers.

Jason425, I disagree with your definition in part because some of the best sarcasm isn't understood by the victim and isn't intended to be.
