it all depends on what you need it for

there are some tiny linux distributions too that can be fitted on a floppy

for some workstations, win2k still rules with its popularity and support

i luv linux nevertheless
and i have a tux in my room

but i cant just go around and start propagandas saying linux is the best
because there is no best in the world

there is always something better

I use RH7.3. It has changed a bit since RH7.0, so a few of the commands are gone and have been replaced with new commands. I use Ximian gnome for my desktop which also lets me use red carpet express which is the windows update equivalent. Red Carpet will let you subscribe to software channels (for free) and install/download software and the latest patches. :)

Mandrake 9 is out now, http://www.mandrake.com , not used it myself yet, and probably won't for the time being

I also recommend Debian, http://www.debian.org , im using this on my firewall box atm, installs quite nicely, and apt-get 0wns :D

I'd say go with Mandrake. I just installed mandrake9.0 and I am very happy with it. It comes with nice packages and it is easy. Much easier than RH. I have a buddy with RH 8.0 and when he has an issue it is a bitch to fix. Fixing an issue in mandrake is a whole load easier and if you are running an nvidia display card hardware acceleration is easy. Even wine is easy.
I also just put mandrake onto my ftp server and so far no big complaints.
For beginners and advanced linux gurus mandrake seems to be very popular and I can see why...!!
