Yeah...I just ordered a X800 XT PE. CDW has them for $459, but they're not instock. They haven't been released yet, but they put them in their inventory, so I went ahead and got one because that's a damn good price....I should have one close to release (it's supposed to be tomorrow...)

nice.. hello 40k 2k1....

gnogtr 05-20-2004 09:39 PM

Hehe, yup, you know me, that's just the way I am...

nVidia is good card company, but replace that 4200 pronto, i'd say get the 6800 if you have the money, but a 5600ultra or even a 5950 ultra (they are cheaper now) would be good. You could also try ATI Radeon 9800 series too...

Proc is OK, I would overclock or replace with a 3.2gigger. The extreme series is a total waste don't buy it unless your wallet is the size of Bill Gates'. I would get a 3.2 gig 800 mhz bus (Northwood? not as familiar with P4's).

Your system would kick bigger/better ass if you replace that video card pronto! The 4200 is dragging you down, and you wouldn't be able to play games like Far Cry, or even Half Life 2 down the road.

Oh yeah try a PC Power and Cooling power supply. I suggest the Silencer 410, it has a 12v connector for the more advanced mobos, really good quality stuff there. About $85.

Steer clear of Nvidia....you'll have to get a 480 watt psu to support it, plus 2 molex plugs and two slots.

Jason425 06-13-2004 07:30 PM

I don't know about you but I don't have $150 for a psu (the pc power and cooling psu's cost something like that..)

gnogtr 06-13-2004 07:44 PM

Well, I have the PSU, but not many ppl do...

Bleh, don't listen to them. The 6800's are amazing cards; people need to start giving credit where credit is due whether or not they believe it is better or worse than the X800's (which should be getting credit from those who do give credit to the 6800's).

gnogtr 06-15-2004 11:07 AM

Well, we know what card vee is getting...

vee_ess 06-15-2004 10:10 PM

LOL
No, I doubt I will spend any money on my system unless I go with AMD 64 stuff. I'm pretty happy with my BFG 5600 Ultra (which, BTW, one me a dispute last night between me and a friend with a 9600XT :D).

EDIT:
I just realized, I never mentioned I finally replaced my S3 Trio 4MB card about 8 months ago. I really love this thing (the 5600) but haven't really gotten into gaming again yet to really see how it does. I usually have music videos play while I work on my system and when good ones come on, I often Full Screen it and I am really satisfied with the video performance and the resolution upscaling and other video improvement.
