*COUGH* Full of it *COUGH*

i call BS..... heh

Can't imagine a Ferrari using a cheap toyota motor :P

(no offence to those who like toyota but toyota isn't exactly high end)

StinkyMojo 03-30-2005 05:23 PM

My bad.. found out it was an Elise, not an enzo. But it still is rather odd...

Jason425 03-30-2005 07:05 PM

teehee!

lotus elise's are sick... I want one... as long as I don't have to put myself permenantly in debt to get and own it...

ya..... that is quite odd.... :/

StinkyMojo 03-31-2005 11:10 AM

Yeah, here is just one of many places to go for more info

Quote:

The 2ZZ-GE engine used in Elise is borrowed from the Celica GT-S, and it shares the same 6-speed manual transmission and gear ratios as the top Celica model.
http://www.sandsmuseum.com/cars/elis...ne/toyota.html

and apparantly this isn't a new thing they have been doing, that article is over a year old. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

midimoose 03-31-2005 07:22 PM

The thing with cars like the elise and the mini cooper is its not about the engine its about the handling, my mate used to have a cooper and it was like riding round in a super gokart it was really cool but cramped (im 6,2) anyway the exige is like a super version of the elize

vee_ess 04-03-2005 10:36 AM

The Exige is definately a nice version of the Elise. The Elise has always used Jap engines under the hood, the creators (mainly, it was the son of the creator of the Esprit) wanted to focus on making an exceptional track car. Hence why people always complain about the ride quality and comfort of the Elise. Their base Elise uses a Yamaha block. Either way the Vauxhall VXR-220 (which happens to have been co-designed by the Elise design crew) is a better overall car and kills all the Japs, even the R34.

midimoose 04-03-2005 01:26 PM

Doubt it would beat an exige s2 (in fact i know it wouldnt iv seen the track results to prove it) the exige is built with the philosophy that its a race car for the road, although the VXR is a fast car.

And I don't think the normal VX 220 is better than the normal elise.

And theres one problem with the vauxhall, its a vauxhall, it maybe a good car but it got a vauxhall badge on the front which to me screams that its a bad car even tho its an ok car but a lotus badge says racing heritage.

Vauxhall are famed for having the handling qualities of bricks, my friend Phil a rally driver and rally mechanic dispises them.

vee_ess 04-04-2005 12:23 PM

Lotus is definately more for the collectors. The point however, is that for $40k USD, both the Lotus and Vauxhall will give you track level handling, but the Lotus will not be even close in acceleration or top speed. You'll need to go with the highest level Elise Sport or Exige to hit the 12 second quarters, which will top $100k. If money's not a factor, then of course the Lotus is the better choice. A Lotus is a Lotus, and right now, other than about 4 or 5 supercars, all at least $300k or more, there's nothing that will handle better on the street. Of course, in 2008, there'll likely be nothing short of an F1 car to compete with the new Esprit.

midimoose 04-05-2005 06:28 PM

Suppose youve got a point if were talking value vauxhall then, How much is the vxr 220 i thought that was the super version of the vx 220?

vee_ess 04-05-2005 10:30 PM

The VX220 is just under $40k USD, while the VXR is supposed to be about $4k to $5k more.

i just realized what you said. the 4.3L is a stock S-10 engine (thats how it handles that much power, it is stock). i was saying transplant the 4.3 to a 240z. now, the 240z is the original iteration of the Z car line. so the 4.3 would be much more powerful than the stock 4 cylinder out of it. i have even seen 350s swapped into 240Zs.

to my knowledge the 240Z had a I6 , the 240Sx had the 4banger... big diff there in both years and cars tho both from same company

Anyway, I'm done.

heh r32's arent that great, they can be had for as much as a subaru.. the r34 gtr is the one that u would attempt to steal if i saw it on the street, along with a porche gt3, mercedes clk-gtr, s7 saleen... i would attempt to steal any one of those cars if they were just sitting on the street or in a parking lot...

that engine is a fucking POS, puts out almost no power, 250 my ass.. more liek 200'ish and no fuckin tq.. the 2/3 rotor 3+ L are the only rotory motors i would accept, but with the reliability problems ... it would be for bracket/paid racing only...

now the car is not that bad, but the engine is... it handles great and the dash is one of the best i have seen.. good shifting/trans.. but that engine is horrable :/

i want a GTO judge or a dodge charger right now, the new 05 vipers are nice... the mustang looks kinda crappy factory, but from boss/saleen it's nice...

give me an evo 8 mr over any subaru anyday... and if money is no question then an nissan r34 gtr will be the next step...

as for other vehicles, i drive a nissan frontier '04 with the vg33 (same as the 300 gen1 and gen2 had but .3L bigger) it can move it's ass even if it weighs some 4000lbs.. cant wait till i can afford to swap it out with the 5.6 VQ from the titan and get the thing running on a 6spd man with all 4 wheels being driven... will take some work but it can be done, all nissan power too ;) make off roading all that much more funn..

Jason425 04-17-2005 08:09 PM

yea, I don't care too much for subaru anyway.. I still <3 mazda 3's though...

vee_ess 04-20-2005 02:00 AM

Judges are hard to come by, but that'd definately be a fun project. I'm looking for a 69 Camaro or 67/68 Firebird (I'd personally rather a smaller muscle car, specifically a pony car, but the other good pony cars, 1st gen 'stangs are way too common for my taste).

StinkyMojo 04-20-2005 10:58 AM

I'd love to own a Trueno..

Jason425 04-20-2005 12:58 PM

StinkyMojo 04-20-2005 04:43 PM

Yea, not as a main car, but your typical "fun" car. It's a drifter's dream. My friend owns one, but his looks much nicer. Go to cardomain.com instead of google image search to find nicer ones.

Jason425 04-20-2005 06:28 PM

*wishes someday to be able to afford a "fun car"*...

MIK3 05-14-2005 06:27 PM

*knows someday he will be able to afford many "fun cars"*...

Vee_Ess. I saw a pretty badass 69 Camaro the other day somewhere on 67th. Light blue, have you seen it?

midimoose 05-30-2005 06:17 PM

MIK3 05-31-2005 04:32 PM

Ah yes, I've see this before, however haven't had the time to fully review it as far as specs and times and performance goes. I'll have to take a good look at this, it looks pretty promising.

Jason425 05-31-2005 09:15 PM

yeah... uh.. i'll be sure to pick one of those up...

imported_the_hacker 06-09-2005 09:38 AM

Jesus f*cking christ am i the only 1 here unde 80 s*it all loving oap's cars (and trucks)

weatherman 06-10-2005 03:24 AM

having a car that is powerfull and runs fast is pointless. Especially since the speed limit are rather low. Personally I like the looks of the car and how easy it is to mod it. I have a 2003 Toyota Corolla S and I have modded the shit out of it with neon lights and all.

Jason425 06-10-2005 08:52 AM

hey I actually like the new corolla S... if I were buying a new car today, it'd be on my top 5, along with a mazda 3, toyota echo, scion xA, and then either a Toyota Prius or a Honda Insight 8)

yes, you're right. i stand corrected. but the 4.3 is more powerful than the 240 stock L6.

we just bought a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. nice car, really like it.

I don't know what it is about Jeeps, but Jeep drivers are the worst on the road in my experience...
they drive the fastest, for sure, and they also tailgate and swerve all over the road like they own it and how dare you get in their way...
Maybe way over there in SC it's different, but we've sure got a bad rash of 'em around here..

i haven't noticed Jeep drivers being bad in particular. alot of people buy a vehicle so big that they can't handle it, but jeeps aren't that big. i dunno, the only problems i have with jeeps, is when the owner jacks up a wrangler so high that his headlights are in my eyeballs.

later

StinkyMojo 06-10-2005 04:17 PM

lifted wranglers are so horrble safety wise.. but I kinda like normal ones.

Ebaum 08-20-2005 04:20 PM

Grinnin Reaper 08-24-2005 09:22 AM

Gotta say that at the moment my new Ducati Monster is about my fav :)

vee_ess 08-25-2005 05:53 PM

Ah, Ducati. I don't know though, I'd personally rather a 999R

Grinnin Reaper 08-26-2005 09:26 AM

yhea who wouldn't? but i didn't have 30k settin around, lol

vee_ess 08-26-2005 12:21 PM

Yeah, I know what you mean. Cars (and bikes), they're so bittersweet, such amazing machines, yet they take up every bit of free time and so much money!
