Gamers Dream System: The Fragbox by Falcon-Northwest

Great buy for any LAN gamer. Fully customizable, PCI-Express, and best of all its a SFF (small form-factor) with a whole 500WATT PSU. Amazing performance from a small system.

Yeha I've always had an eye for those SFF.. they are badass..

vee_ess 01-11-2005 04:59 PM

Their Fragbooks are amazing too.

CiKoTiC 01-11-2005 05:10 PM

So is the price.

Jason425 01-11-2005 09:08 PM

those are pretty cool, but I just don't see the point.. either get a big badass comp or a laptop.. I don't see much point in going half-way..

Napster 01-11-2005 09:24 PM

Thats because BIG gaming rigs are too BIG, and laptops dont hold the POWER that BIG RIGS have, But FragBoxes are SMALL with POWER of BIG RIGS.

Jason425 01-11-2005 11:49 PM

too big as in what? unless you live in a box, you have room for a regular sized comp.. the only time i'd justify a fragbox is if I lanned basically every weekend... but even then it's kinda silly because you still have to carry something... be a man! 8)

Napster 01-12-2005 07:17 AM

They are not your average computer and I can understand why people are attracted to them. Full-blown computers lack the sleekness and sexiness the fragbook presents in half-size but full performance.

And you would know a lot about being a man lol... ROFL LMAO JK

gnogtr 01-12-2005 09:44 AM

Yeah, sorry, I'm with J425 here, I have a laptop if i ever want to do lan gaming, and my dtop has a Thermaltake Xavier case, so it's not leaving my room. I just don't see the point of needing another comp, I have 1 kickass dtop, 1 Alienware laptop, 1 133 P1 comp, and 1 P2 comp for a server...I never go to lan events anyway...

StinkyMojo 01-12-2005 10:15 AM

Im thinking about getting one as my next PC cause I average about 1-2 LANS a Month... which isnt THAT much, but still enough to make dragging my case around a pain.. even though I have a light Lanboy.

yea.. I average 0 lans per month... basically if you're not a druggy stoner loser, you don't lan around here... it's really pathetic.. i've been to one REAL GOOD lan.. the rest were pathetic... :(

and yea laptops can pwn.. if you have the $...

anyway. i like 'em. ive got a full tower case and it is a pain to lug that thing back and forth between parties, ive pretty much stopped doing it. plus you can buy normal desktop parts for the SFF PCs in most cases. i agree you can get the same functionality out of a laptop, but itll be a nice thick one. good points all, but i like the sff's.

i think its because you can get a laptops with the multimedia functionality of a PC. ive got my XBox, phone and all sort of stuff runnin through my PC, wireless, sound card, front bay devices, CCLs, not to mention they are easier to work on than a laptop - at least id think so.

Is 4 or 5 thousand dollars really a great buy for something that you know would cost you 2 or 3 thousand to make yourself.

Matthew 01-13-2005 07:07 PM

I have been to a few lans and as far has hauling a rig around or using a laptop... I'll haul the rig. As long as I have a flat panel monitor and wheels on the case... I prefer the horse power and fast drive access speeds to really enjoy a game. Of course there are a few laptops out there that will perform, but I just don't have that type of cash and within a year or so the laptop will be pretty hard to upgrade for the same amount of cash I would spend on a rig.

Ever used a Falcon FragBook? Apparently not. My Laptop amost matches the FragBooks in power.. although nothing matches my Mach V. Nothing that i have used, anyway. And certanly nothing with a single Processor

Jason425 03-10-2005 04:42 PM

it's pc2700 ram... 'nuff said.. :D

Dragon 03-10-2005 05:04 PM

nice.

Marix-FNW 03-11-2005 01:44 PM

Do you really think that the difference between 2 gigs of DDR2700 or DDR 3200 is going to be noticable? it isnt. far from noticable. affects the framerates on most games very, very little. And it is the TL model.. not the DR (For those reading who dont know, TL is the Thin and Light, DR is the Desktop replacement.) Trust me. The Fragbook is more than adequet for any game i feel like playing. Including DOOM 3 on max res/graphics.

StinkyMojo 03-11-2005 02:50 PM

he was joking about the RAM.. he thinks the number "2700" is funny :P

and while we're talking about laptops say hello to my new sig :boohoo:
ill take pics when it comes in next week.

Jason425 03-11-2005 05:51 PM

I wasn't joking at all... faster ram is what enabled me to get an additional ghz on my CPU and 83 mhz FSB... and don't tell me that those don't help...

at any rate, someone has way too much money... and the other is cookoo for selling their base comp and jumping down 3 flights of stairs to a 9600 pro...

Napster 03-12-2005 04:27 PM

Stinky has evolved from Perfromance Junkie to more of a Business Approach on life. Yea wow Marix, where do you get the $$ for all of that.

Jason425 03-12-2005 11:28 PM

evolved? don't know about that...

mutated? more accurate

I have proven that you can be both.. I have a laptop that has onboard video.. then have the main box for games/etc.. and $ isn't an issue, he drives an 04 civic... and I drive an 88 olds... it's just the mutation...

Napster 03-13-2005 02:41 PM

Doesnt matter, the FragBox is the future of high performance gaming. PERIOD.

Jason425 03-13-2005 03:10 PM

lmfao.. there is no "future of high performance gaming"... well, if there is, it's not a computer, it's one of the consoles that haven't come out yet...

Marix-FNW 03-14-2005 11:20 AM

The Future of High Performance gaming is 64 bit, in my opinion, i dont like consoles.. i would rather have a mouse and keyboard. As to where i get the money for the computers, I build cars/computers. I dont like building my own computers though.. I like falcons performance.. they somehow can get a few more FPS over what i can, even when i overclock with liquid cooling. And laptops are not fun to build.. plus the monitors cost far too much, and it is next to impossible to get ahold of the parts.

the only bad thing about falcon is it takes a few weeks to receive your order.. especialy with a Laser cut case.

crazy_D 12-18-2005 06:46 AM

the fragbox is nice, but it seems exclusively for lanning. i got my case from scan and although its a lan ready small form pc its still a kickass desktop. and it didnt cost my a bajillion pounds to build either.

Napster 01-26-2006 10:24 AM

what do you mean it didnt cost you a lot? $1500-$2000 is alot.
