Board that took 6months to get here...

So I finally recieved the mobo I won in that contest during the last ice age... Had it come a week earlier, I wouldn't be out The $80 I spent on another board...

It wasn't in a static bag and the HSF bracket wasn't installed (I installed it be4 the pic)... I am not so sure it'll work.. Pics are attached.

I'm gonna install this tonight or tomorrow, fire it up and see if it can put out.
(if the old asus board didn't fry my bro's chip...)

(DFI Board I had to buy is on the bottom, and it'll prob be for sale soon, so if you're interested, lmk.. [yes it's the good one])

Jason425 02-24-2005 09:59 PM

double post....

I built the system.. here's a pic.. now let's see if I can get windows installed!

Comments so far: Placement of things on the board is nearly perfect.. best i've ever seen...

Jason425 02-24-2005 10:44 PM

Triple post... eat it..

Like I somewhat feared, it won't post... The lackluster packaging (no static bag...), or perhaps taking a beating in lousy USPS trucks (with on padding) killed the board.. it will turn on, but I get no display.. I tried everything, but alas, nothing...

A big thumbs up to a waste of the other Jason's time, money, effort and my time, effort and frustration...

Remind me to sign up for another one of those contests... :shake:

edti: oh look, a board that works! (the dfi) what a wonder anti static bags are!

Why don't you send me the broken useless board then...

StinkyMojo 02-25-2005 03:56 PM

or me

vee_ess 02-25-2005 04:08 PM

Stinky, trust me, you don't want it; it's apparently useless!

F1a5hP01ntX 02-25-2005 04:47 PM

lol... why do you want it then?

Jason425, did you read the instructions when you set it up? cause if you didn't, i would do that. if you have, check all the jumpers and dip's to see if they are all in the correct positions.

gnogtr 02-25-2005 05:10 PM

I think he knows what he's doing...or does he?!?!?

StinkyMojo 02-25-2005 08:52 PM

we all know why we want it: RMA

Jason425 02-25-2005 10:46 PM

who are you going to RMA it to?

It went from whoever TWL got it from, to Jason Jacobs, to me... I doubt it came from a store.. more likely the company giving it away for promotional purposes..

If you really do want it though, gimme $25 in paypal for trouble and s/h and it's yours..

It does turn on, but no picture... and I did the exact same thing i do with every mobo.. who knows, maybe I missed something and it'll work for you...

Jason 02-26-2005 04:28 PM

First off you complain a lot for a guy that sent me the wrong adress the first time. Secondly, you want to refund me the $30 it cost me over 3x to send it to you.

Thirdly, try growing a brain and re-install the mobo and then clearing the cmos. There could be a grounding problem that is preventing you for having the board work. That board is just fine. Check some online forums for troubleshooting. If you still have issues I will RMA the board.

Jason425 02-26-2005 06:58 PM

What was the first address I gave you?

I took the board completely out of the case so it wasn't touching any metal and it still did it...

No, i don't want to refund you a dime, especially since in between the 800 days it took to ship you said you'd include fans and stuff, but didn't even put it in a static bag...

No need to RMA the board, it is doing just fine sitting on a shelf...

So basically, you are saying you took it out to test to see if it was a short and made sure that it wouldn't be touching metal any more if it had touched metal... If it already touched metal, it would've already fried, and it would be too late for you to un-short it or whatever you were trying to do. I'll admit that's the funniest thing I've heard on these boards in a while.

Jason425 02-27-2005 05:54 PM

no vee.. YOU are the funniest thing.. I had that short thing happen before and took it off and it worked.. that doesn't fry it... besides,if it was fried I doubt it'd turn on...

who knows, it might not actually be broken.. I just am not ripping my brother's comp apart to test it.. so if you want it, lmk..

vee_ess 03-02-2005 07:12 PM

I suggest you take some time and think between your posts. If you short the motherboard, you almost certainly fried the board, regardless of whether it turns on or not. That doesn't mean everything is fried, it could just be a single part of the board, such as something that video output depends on. Make up your mind on whether it's working or not. And no, I don't want a board that you fried; I was just hoping to capitolize from someone else's lack of skills.

...somehow reminds me of the whole pro-fuel cell spiel...

Jason425 03-02-2005 10:18 PM

guess that recent rain-issue you guys have been having in the desert has gotten to your head a bit...

It's ok though.. Everyone has to learn sometimes. Well actually, perhaps the trend of specialization is a good idea. You stick to cars and i'll stick to comps...

MIK3 03-06-2005 01:13 AM

" guess that recent rain-issue you guys have been having in the desert has gotten to your head a bit... "

I'm sorry man, I just want to note that when you get owned by a true, on-topic response, don't turn to that comeback as a last resort...

Keefe 03-06-2005 03:59 PM

Jason: All you do is whine about everything!

Jason425 03-06-2005 10:03 PM

hey mike.. what can I say, I can't just sit there after I got owned.. :P
