posts missing?
either i am screwed up or there are posts going missing.....
i checked back on a thread and a whole chunk of it was gone  i'm going crazy aren't i? |
what thread?!
|
well thats the thing there have been a couple.....
i'm just starting to wonder because some threads i go to check back on and i could have sworn there were more posts or posts directed at me.... and it doesn't seem like they were deleted or partially removed for any real reason..... i'm just trying to figure out if i am going crazy..... |
no, some rogue mod is draining the forum of our posts!
|
It's me. When there are threads where people are requesting help, I delete off-topic posts. Threads that are mainly just chatting, I leave alone, since it isn't hurting anything, unless it's getting aggressive and out of hand. If you don't want your posts deleted, don't spam in those threads; we are here to help people with computer problems after all, arent' we?
|
YOU????
look just because a thread goes briefly off topic, doesn't mean it is spam, and is certainly not reason for an entire chunk of a thread to go missing.... there is a difference between deleting offensive posts and deleting innocent off topic posts, and all you had to say was "this thread is getting off topic, if you want to chat like this move it elsewhere" it is especially NOT OK for you to be deleting posts made by other staff members or mods! who gave you authority over other staff members? |
|
Big thumbs up to you cherry. If you seem to hold your position in such high esteem, why don't you show it in quality. Also, I would just like to remind you that I used to mention it and try to redirect conversations, but you aren't the most innocent, as you would say, in allowing that to happen. It seems to be a common problem lately, with people posting before thinking.
BTW, I'm shocked that you think more off-topic posts than on-topic posts is such an innocent offense. Maybe that's the reason why people sometimes repeatedly post their problems (let me explain that one out for you: they don't like sorting through majority spam to find a few possible solutions, they can get prompt help elsewhere). Generally, since the most frequent staff members tend to be among the worst in these issues, it really isn't up to me to inform them each time, since one would think it's apparent they could figure it out. |
First off, I'm glad to see Jason425 can link images. Job well done...and good job on not being rhetorical, people like that in a thread.
Secondly, cherrypie. Just be mature and abide by the more mature moderator who has been around these forums long enough to know what is and isn't appropriate for threads. As a staff member, I would suggest not carrying on any further with this issue, and settle in through PM's...it is afterall what they are there for. That, or you have the alternative of whoring up this thread, only digging yourself a deeper hole in the end. |
Reminder: You can split topics into new threads if something gets off topic. Be cool.
|
Yea Cherry.. or you'll end up like me.. leaving TWL with one less decent mod...
|
so nobody sees a problem with mods deleting other mods posts? i thought that they didn't have that authority......
i certainly wouldn't disrespect another mod by doing that.... at least unless the other mod said something completely offensive or used profanity..... other than that i see a problem..... by the way it would be nice if we had a staff/mod/admin only forum to discuss problems like this |
ive edited one of keefes posts before...its no biggie so long as you dont change it...but I agree Vee was overstepping a bit
posts should be edited for content and spam... for example if some idiot comes along and just goes F@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CKF@CK for the whole post...delete it if its spam delete it..... if its a repeat topic...lock it and leave note of another topic..... dont delete other peoples stuff now lay off cherry shes put work into the site and its important that we keep her shes a good worker and a good friend of mine...vee...show some respect and dont delete posts that dont need to be deleted..... |
Just for the common edification, the thread had started to go OT with a single post (by Cannon, I believe) that was asking about pictures of cherry. There were no following posts at the time, showing no reason for it to stay, so I deleted it. Soon after there were a couple more posts for it, and when I had seen them, I had deleted them. By the time the page refreshed after they had been deleted, there was a new post, by cherry, which was completely out of context because of the degree to which the OT topic had digressed. In case you were wondering, I hadn't deleted your post for the hell of it, but because the new topic was already being deleted and your post would have appeared idiotically out of place.
I do agree that there should be a staff forum for stuff like this. Thanks, Pro, for the lesson. Maybe you should practice that, too. But I guess you are right; since she is your friend, it is better that I lay off of her, especially since it is me on the offense. Smooth... Seriously, folks. |
pro is right.. those leprechans aren't so dumb afterall.. The only posts that should be deleted are :spam: and vulgarity or other unappropriate trash... deleting everything that is even remotely off topic alienates users pretty quickly...
even though your intentions are good, I don't see anyone thanking you for doing it... |
I am all for cannon's post about cherrys pics being deleted...its quite creepy....also there is a pic in the post pics of your self thread....
vee you forgot [/sarcasm] |
lol @ creepy oh boy.... see if that had been the only post deleted this wouldn't be an issue..... but that wasn't the only one :P
