Alienware Vs. Falcon-NW Vs. Voodoo PC
If you could pick, and money was not an issue, which computer would you choose?
I'd go with Alienware, no real reason, I'm just most familiar with them.
voodoo is leet
I'm into portable gaming, so the fragbox has my vote
Gotta go with the Alienware. We have them at work, and I have one of their laptops.
voodoo is still the best.. they make that super silent thing...
they may be good but I wouldn't call them the best.
i'd call falcon the worst of the three...
by what means? Voodoo is nothing special themselves, they are high up there in prices too.

but still, what makes them special? you say they are the best, support your argument.

I want opinions on the best computer of the three. And if your posting, back up your opinions with experiences, or hard fact. thanks guys.
And Im asking this, because Im considering buying a second desktop. Just for kicks. But I want the best possible, so I figured I would consult you fine people. And no, Im not mocking anyone. |
I think all three companies are not that much different as per computer specifications, you can get pretty much the best you can for your system. However, Falcon Northwest does offer some cool custom casing options which is a bonus.
I actually kinda like the case that alienware has a little bit better, though Falcons and Voodoos are all ALU, Alienware also has the AlienIce Video cooling system, and now, Accoustic dampening.
And Alienware has those specialy made 16ms Ben-q LCDs with Alienware logo on them.. lol.. so superficial
voodoo has the totally silent case... how's that for acoustics...

yes you may :)

Well, I've never dealt with Voodoo, but like I said, I've had tons of experience with Alienware systems, and I've never been let down. I did read an article in PC Gamer mag about that "totally silent" case. The problem is that the whole case is the heat sink, but because of this, the components run quite warm, and Voodoo warns against overclocking. Now, for that little extra power of overclocking, I'd have to deal with a little noise. My personal TT case is very quite, I even sleep with the thing on, so that goes to show just how silent it is. But, I really love the fact that Alienware has comeout with out of the box water cooling. That is AWSOME!
he didn't mention overclocking...
not only that, but just because you sleep with it on doesn't mean it's super quiet.. some people sleep with delta fans going... and yes, OOTB h2o is cool for noobs :P |
The voodoo PC i read up on was Glycol Cooled. the inside was insanely clean, wires managed, pipes for cooling, not tubes.. it was amazing.... and it outperformed the alienware in this particualr review.. so yeah if i had $5k... i get a voodoo
Yeah, price is definatly a problem, especially when you're still in college.
I sleep with my comp on too, it's not very quiet haha. I got used to it and actually like it now, it drowns out all other noises. Most other people hate it, when my girlfriend comes over I have to shut it off for the night haha.
Im seriously considering the Alienware Aurora ALX. Partialy because it has water cooling, and the Voodoo Case doesnt. The Rage Extreme Gamer AMD doesnt have the liquid cooling. I like to Overclock, and it is difficult on the new 64 bit hardware and an SLI configuration to do so safely, without LC. I also want to be able to do this as soon as i get it, instead of having to install my own LC system
