Music Skipping..??

hey like whenever i listen to a music video or a song like it will skip and stuff and i was wondering like where in my computer i can go to like change the settings and whatnot?

Sounds like to me that you need to either uninstall your sound drivers or update them, you may need to do both. Do you know the type of auido device you have? This information has been provided by John Kazer, my programmer

Jason425 08-18-2005 12:53 AM

Are you doing other things (like burning a cd) while the skipping happens? If not, you may need to update your sound drivers.

k thanks for your replies. well I don't really know what my audio device is.

And nope, I'm not burning any CDs...where can I go to update my sound drivers?

let me ask you, what program are you using to play music? (Winamp, windows media player..etc)?

Jenna0921 08-19-2005 10:55 AM

well i use all different ones...like windows media player, when i watch dvds on my computer, and like just on yahoo when i am watching music videos..it always skips.

If your listening to it on a CD then the CD is probably scratched.
You may need a better interent connection if your listening to streamed music.
Or you might want to consider a computer upgrade.
What kind of computer do you have?

I had a similar problem before while playing mp3's, it worked fine after changing my sound drivers. I say change because I was actually using the most recent ones and it was skipping, when I used a slightly older version it was better.

ok and how to i change them?

Are you sure it is the Compaq MV540? Reason I ask is all I can come up with on google is the Compaq MV540 monitor, not a desktop computer.

I doubt that it is an issue with your computer, hardware or software. Launch (Yahoo! Music) uses Windows Media Player to play their videos which are stored, transferred, and played in the WM9 codec. If your computer plays other WM files, then it's most likely skipping due to bandwidth or net congestion issues. If you want to test and verify this, first try playing this song in Windows Media Player. After that, try downloading that link using Net Transport and then play the downloaded file.

You'll know if its an Internet connection problem if you still have the problem the first time but not the second time.

Or it could simply be just lag. Have you noticed some lag in the last week?

vicki2 04-26-2006 02:17 AM

I went through a similar panic and did an hour or so of checking driver updates, etc., and all along it was the lag!

lpxxfaintxx 04-26-2006 06:46 PM

Heh, happens to me sometimes. I know how you feel.

vicki2 04-27-2006 01:55 AM

Well, at least it got sorted out without a trip to a tech! I'm always grateful when the worst doesn't happen!!!!

Jason425 04-27-2006 10:31 PM

no doubt... techs are theifs... they rob you blind! That is, unless you know them personally and they do it cheap/free.

ninikins 05-19-2006 03:35 PM

yep same here, you'd think that at some point in time (hopefully soon) they can do something about the whole lag problem, it's a bit silly really
