Apple or Microsoft?

Which one do you guys use, and why do you use it? Over the recent years, my XP is giving me many problems and I was thinking of getting an iBook from Apple. Any suggestions?

Gotham Dark Knight 04-24-2006 06:48 PM

Wait until Apple puts intel cpu's in their system, and dual boot with both.

Prometheus 04-25-2006 01:32 AM

Um. where have you been? Thats already happened...

vicki2 04-25-2006 02:07 AM

I've been an Apple user for many years, and even when they are a pain, I love them. I'll admit that I have a PC for a lot of internet stuff just because it's easier and I'm so protective of my Mac!

Tyler 04-25-2006 03:14 AM

I haven't used a Mac since "System 7". I've been thinking about getting one to play around with sometime.

lpxxfaintxx 04-25-2006 06:11 PM

Thanks for the replies, Ill take them into consideration.

vicki2 04-30-2006 03:14 AM

If you haven't used a Mac before, you've got a treat in store. I can't say enough good about them!

Jason425 04-30-2006 12:08 PM

I have an iBook G4, and I like it.. it makes me KIND OF wish I had a real mac... except then I remember that I know infinitely more about PCs, PCs have all the games, etc etc.... The mac works well as a school comp though.

Prometheus 04-30-2006 06:33 PM

I'm getting a macbook pro this summer :-D i think.

Jason425 05-01-2006 12:00 AM

that's gonna rock... don't drop it! :)

xMerCLorDx 05-02-2006 02:02 PM

Why not drop it? It's scratch resistent and the harddrive locks when it's sensing it is falling. heh ;)

what's "a real mac"? iBooks are not? What's so much different in your knowledge of PC's as opposed to macs? Are you referring to hardware differences? Much of the hardware is less proprietary now, and if you know the parts of a PC you surely can determine the parts in a Mac. If software, you sound like a windows junkie, if not, you may be unaware that OS X runs on a BSD variant of Unix. In which case if you are a linux user you probably know a lot more than you think, about Mac's.

As far as Mac's not having the games, you can run Windows with Boot Camp.

As for being a good school computer I agree, but the stigma around Macintoshes being educationally facilitative was an older theme of the company's marketing. Now it's become a niche classy high end style company, catering to the more wealthy of the middle class. Their iconography has grown from the educational apple to a sleek representation of design and functionality.

The productivity packages for living are probably the most innovative bundles available today. I don't know of any other company that sells computers that has a comparable package, by a long shot. Most manufacturers only have applications tossed on with a bit of proprietary connectivity between them. Example: dell with their musicmatch, dvd authoring trials, and some hodgepodge like that, or hp with their little bundle. Usually only including windows and the default programs for it unless you pay for it separately. Mac on the otherhand has all this: iLife + more

I don't own a mac but I don't think any other company puts together a package quite like apple does.

Well I have had a Mac Mini before, and I use my cousins G5 frequently, in a couple of months I will be buying a MacBook Pro. I just prefer the Macintosh style over a PC.

Jason425 05-08-2006 10:48 AM

By real mac I mean a desktop.

Yes, by your definition, I am a Windows junkie...

Yes, hardware is hardware (although I had a heck of a time getting the keyboard off this thing so I could install more ram).

It's better for school simply because it's less convenient to waste time screwing around (playing games and the like).

Klaas Koopman 05-09-2006 07:57 AM

I want to get a mac aswell, just for designing that is! But don't macs cost ALOT more? That's the only thing that is withholding me!

Jason425 05-09-2006 11:03 AM

They do cost more. I got a good deal on mine (traded PC laptop for my ibook for a "gain" of like $300).

FatalityShard 05-09-2006 07:05 PM

Gotta love those macs:) Nah I love the way they look and their OS over windows, that's just me. It's cleaner, and faster for me while working on projects.

Jason425 05-10-2006 12:10 AM

Yes, it is more user friendly imo...
If nothing else, it's definately prrrrrrrty!

vicki2 05-10-2006 04:06 AM

Macs are expensive although I love them. I tend to use a PC for most internet stuff and save the Mac for projects. But both are usually fired up.

Jason425 05-10-2006 09:41 AM

i'm on the mac right now (breakfast) :P

I also cart this little guy to school.

Napster 05-10-2006 08:54 PM

Go mac and you dont go back.. I got the mac book pro, and i have Windows and OSX 10.4.6 running on it... its a beauty, Front row, photo booth, i life, you cant beat it. except the $2k price tag is sketch, just wait for the macbooks to come out (non pros).

Jason425 05-10-2006 10:25 PM

front row is awesome... photobooth makes for some funny pictures too.

vicki2 05-11-2006 03:19 AM

I worked for a company who always provided us with powerbooks, and I'll never forget the first one I actually went out and bought on my own. $3700 and I nearly choked! Treated that thing like an infant!

Jason425 05-11-2006 10:38 AM

I remember the days of $3000 computers.... *puke*

StinkyMojo 05-11-2006 03:06 PM

Yea, now you can pretty much get a badass PC for as little as a grand.

Jason425 05-11-2006 04:06 PM

an "ok" PC at least

StinkyMojo 05-11-2006 04:47 PM

Jason425 05-11-2006 06:40 PM

angivodka 05-18-2006 03:04 AM
