Sup yall,
I am considering a auto type cig lighter in my case. Has this been done before? I think it would be pretty dope. I'll never need to search for a lighter again. U could charge stuff and power stuff with it. I just don't know if it will work. Will I need another power supply?

i´ve been to lan parties yet where after two days we hadn´t had any lighter any more at 2 in the mornin and we had to wait until a shop opened before we could smoke again and that was pure torture, from that day on, i swore myself to build a device that prevents from such situations, so i built in a second psu and a cigarette lighter. ppl on the parties get ugly[glow=green,2,300]GREEDGREEN[/glow] when they see it ;D

Thing is my case has no room for another power supply. Trying to find a way to make room but it just dont look promising. I am also looking to add a scsi raid with as many drives as possible at 10,000 RPMs each. This alone will suck up the 350 watt psu that came with my case. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

one possible solution is a special powersupply that is smaller sized than standard ones. i know a few ppl woh own some. these thingies are about 12x7x10 cm and can give 125watts which should be suiting. you could also simply use a standard 12v power supply, but it should be able to give more than 5 amps.shit is i don´t know the exact power consumption of a cigarette lighter.
if you haven´t got any spare room inside the case, why not mount the supply outside ;)

At my work we have a huge redundant power supply made for proliant servers. This thing is enormous and has like three powersupplies in one. i might grab that one. Could probably get it for like 30.00. I know I will be gewtting some 10000 rpm drives for like 15.00. i love my job. We also have some piece of shit power supplies. The thing is I want to maintain the sleek look of the antec 1030b case that i am modding. If anyone has any links to a place that has a solution for this that would be cool. I am thinking of taking that power supply and putting it in some kind of encloser and screwing it to the yop of the case. them I could have a tv hooked up to it if I want

really, i´ve not fucked up any moddin so far yet, i was near a several dozen times, but i never damaged anything totally 8)

lol! I burnt my mobo! I replaced my LED to blue and the heatshrink i was using was defective! (LIKE WTF) IT CONDUCTED ELECTRICITY! LOL so what happened was a short!

but now i can't do anything else to the case untill i find a job and pay off the mobo (120 $)..... my brother is making me pay... i can't mod til i pay

for the lighter mod: I've thought about it but I don't feel like making another hole in my case even if it would be very practical to plug and power my gps to load maps.
as for the amperage, it all depends on what you plug into it. a gps that takes 2AA batteries will not kill your psu. Something bigger perhaps like a cellphone could.

man, i've got two 300 watt psus and the second one is for "stuff only". a cig lighter draws about 6 amps. even a 235 watt psu would do that (without mobo attached) ;)

whats modding in a different level to me is have your lcd screen built into tha case... thats what you call a lan case :)

I am waiting to do this lighter thing till I get a bigger case. This one has room for one PSU and that's it. My next case will be a full tower with two PSUs. Maybe I'll have two 650 watt PSUs and just do whatever the hellI want. LOL

Or better yet XdigitalX, mod a motherboard on the back of an lcd and then mod all cards onto breadboards flat onto the motherboard and put the drives in the base.
