V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I just recently bought a Volcano 7+ a few days ago, but 12 hours before it arived i blew my XP1600+ douh! So i had to bung in my Duron, however it's not quite what i expected as The Duron 800 is running @ 1024Mhz (128FSB) @ 45~51*C (Low) fan speed, (Med) 40~49*C (high) 39~46*C. Seems high considering the case is open & have a 80mm 1900rpm (Suck) front fan & a 3400rpm (Blow) back fan :( Also i am using ArticSilver 3.
Any ideas? |
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
if ya got the case open no fans exept the cpu fan do any good. in an open case, no constructed airflow can occur, even if ya theoretically put the fans in the right position, or do ya think the air stays in there because its so funny. and, no insulting, nobody knows if ya use the AS3 in the right way. adn one more thing left, the duron is built using 18 micrometer technology, so he likes getting hot when overclocking. tell us what heatsink-fan u was usin previously, and the temps please. ya also gotta know that the AS3 needs about 48 hours for the tiny silver parts to settle in the right position, so ya will get "real" temps 2 days after installing the HSF. ;)

Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
Before i had a GlobalWin FOP 38 (7000rpm) & got around 43*C
Whats the right & whats the wrong way of using AS? |
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
the right way is to apply a thin, as thin as possible, layers on both cpu and hsf, and then, wait 72(sorry, wrong in first post) hours for the small silver particles to settle in the small groves (ya can use ya pc during this period, but the temps may occur to fall a little bit in the first 72 hours. look up the users guide @ http://www.articsilver.com/arctic_si...structions.htm

Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
Thanx that will come in handy :)
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
ya welcome bro :D
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
The V7+ should perform quite well. I did a review on it and I was quite happy with it. Make sure that the speed is set to high.
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
is it noisy on high speed? i mean my relation to noisy is a bit krippled, since my cpu fan is 'bout 50 db, but i mean can ya hear the hdd workin when the fan is set to high? i cannot hear mine ;D
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
any thermal paste you put it as thin as you can right and only on da core?
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
some say only core or hsf, some say both, i only perform it on the hsf cuz it is the easiest way and ya can be assured to get all the core covered
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
How i do it is place a small bit on the CPU core then get the HSF & place it on top & see how much has been covered :) The temp has dropped about 2*C or so now. As i killed my XP1600 i was going to get another but i think i will be better off getting the Tbred & maybe a A7N333 :)

Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
well, 2 degrees celsius is something bro, i know guys who ripp their asses off for half of that :o
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
lol i got my cpu to 3 b4 with air cooling :D
it was like -30 outside i opened every window in the hoouse lol! |
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
-30 fliping heck, you must of been waring a coat everythime you go on the computer lmao, where are you from Russia?
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
this happens when i open up my room window, sit in front of the rig all night and freeze me butt off. 8) (this happened with my thunderbird 1000@1197 with the 38mmx60mm delta fan on 7 volts
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I do it exactly as directed. http://arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I am going to need some alcohol cleaning before i can do anything, i guess the temp an't to bad till i get a tbread. Any idea that speeds they will be coming out it i.e 1800+ etc?
Cheers. |
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I think Atlon XP 2100+ is available
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
Alittle out of my price range i heard the XP2100+ is a nightmare to unlock, they might do the same for the TB also

Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
thats the reason why i am considering buying a P IV system ::)
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
Ah yes the P-4. If AMD keeps this up they are gona get themselves all screwed up.
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
As well as they run alot cooler :) but thats all i will give Intel :p
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I don't like having to put glue on my spu to overclock it. GRR
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
nah, thats not the main reason, the main reason for P IV is that ya can raise the fsb up to heavenly frequences and overclock them 1000 or more with very easy voltage mod and decent cooling ;D :o 8)

Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
wtvr anyone says i stay with my amd D:
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
i like amd best too, but i can't be without havin a try on the P4
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I have heard of the P-4 going to 3GHz
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
Hmm 3Ghz P4 or 2Ghz XP?
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I would still like to see the benchmarks of maxed out P-4 and a maxed out Athlon XP. MHx SHMEGAHRz
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
The P4 would be the winner sadly as it will have an amazingly fast FSB & memory & would have around 1GHz lead bee in mind that the XP would have to be 2.3GHz or so to be tie with it :)
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
muhahahahahahaha, ill kick ass do damn that it will hurt in ya lungs, muahahahahahahhahaa ;D 8) (btw, dazz, what happened to ya fan, any gettin better?)
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I am waiting for the new case to come in and I'll take it from there. I want to put together the system of VoidedWarranty.com. It's gona have the Voided Warranty on it and everything. Maybe even hire a air brush guy to do the work for me.
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
It's still running pretty much the same as before except a 2C diffrence. One things for sure this is my last HSF next time it's going to me water cooling
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I don't understand it. ::)
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I think it's poor cerulation as the front fan just seems to cool the HD's PCI card but can't get to the HSF :( may me a better layout case will do :) Any idea which to get that has a good price :)
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
how bout a side blowhole ;)
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
It would be hard with out a case lid :D
That reminds me i wonder if i should change them round a 1900rpm taking the heat out with the 3400rpm bring in cool air? |
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
I have found that it is very important to have fans sucking air out near where the CPU is. This allows the fan to blow colder ait through the HeatSink. Basicly make sure that you have fans sucking air out of the back of you case.
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
Yeah @ the moment i have the 3400rpm fan doing that but the 1900 one barelt makes a breaze lol i did have an other 3400rpm at the front but it made too much noise for me :( also it didn't seem to of done much
|
Re: V7+ not performing as good as expected.
if ya don't use a case lid the fans won't do anything, you cant get any controlled airflow in an open case :P
