Re: Where's everybody from?
One thing I notice about people from New Jersey is that you tell someone where you're from by saying what exit you take to get to your place. Don't get me wrong, I'm alright with that. Hell, my sister is married to someone from Jersey! ;D He's pretty much my big bro by the way we get along. Where did that originate from?
|
Re: Where's everybody from?
Just a bad joke I heard in the military. In fact I just moved here less than a year ago. I quess it comes from the fact that Jersey is so small and completly covered with interstates. Not for sure but if I write a long enough response it may just sound write sense I took so long to write it. Talk to ya later

[/quote] Hulaboy...not sure where that comes from, but I have noticed it too. i am in the military and am still getting used to the way people do things here. Probably the reason is that the two major north south routes in Jersey are either the New Jersey Turnpike or the Garden state Parkway. We live just off exit 88 in the Toms River/Lakehurst area. It is a good reference point as New Jersey is so narrow, but also so long. Most people in the state, I would guess, live somewhere fairly close to either of these major highways. Just my 2 cents worth. |
Re: Where's everybody from?
Huntsville, MO., USA - - - also commonly known as the STICKS!!
Hey Savage, Warner-Robbins still open? I was there in either '80 or '81 & the talk at that time was the base would be closed within 5 yrs. Where are you stationed now? |
Re: Where's everybody from?
Hey awesomedell. Warner Robins is alive and well. There doing depot maintance on a lot of Air Force planes not to mention it's now the base of Joint STARS (an aircraft like AWACS but does ground survelance, a reserve B1B bomber squadron and a bunch of tankers. It's mostly civilian now but still growing. Looks like it will be around for a while.

Re: Where's everybody from?
Morning Savage,
So you're still there, I must have misread your prev. post, I thought you were in Jersey, figured you must have been assigned to Dover or something like that, was wondering if Norma was still running the NCO club up there. So W-R is mostly reserve & civilian now huh, well good, local economy used to really depend on that place, but hell that was 20 yrs ago. I'm sure it must be way grown up now. You reserve or active duty? If you're still AD, my advice is give them their 20 & then go do you own thing, sure wish I'd have been that smart when I was a 20 something!! But no, I went on down to the 20th SOS at Eglin after doing jump sch. at FT Benning and propmptly got in a pissing contest with a Lt Col., I was a SSGT, guess who won?!? Got seperated in '86, unable to conform to military life, still not sure how you make E-5, with an AFCM & a MSM, and yet be unable to conform to military life!! Word to the wise, never piss-off any USAFA grad above the rank of 1st LT, real pissy bastards they can be!! |
Re: Where's everybody from?
Actually I just seperated less than a year ago. I'm now up in Jersey for the time being. When I was in I wanted out. I didn't even study for Staff Sergant test and still passed. Would have been A Staff last month had I stayed in. But I decide to to get out and try civilian life. Now I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better of in. And your right about those Lt. Col. I was enlisted aircrew so I flew with a lot officers and some of them could be real @$$ Holes but I met some I would do anything for. I just wish there was a personality test for making rank as an officer. When I was overseas I had a major that put gas in a Diesel car. That was fun. Ah well, some is good some is bad just gotta find the right mix. Take care and talk to ya later.
