Vantec Tornado fans blow hugs cfm, at the same time suck.
Anyone else have probelms with vantec tornado fans..?? Here is the situation, I installed one last night on my comp while I was in the process of cooling it better, and it was one the same power line as my hard drive which is a 400 somthing watt from antec, turned the system on and whoa! More air than 20 regular 2800rpm sunon fans it seemed like, was blowing so hard that the air was making my hair blow back and that is no lie, also cleaned out the inside of my case with ease *LOL* But when the comp started it seemed very very sluggish, then after 3 times of tryin to start it it crashed! Lucky I have dual partitions so non of my important data was lost, reinstalled windows 2k and got it started up after moving the fan off the same power wire as the hard drive but again it seemes super super slow! I confirmed this using pass mark, comp was scoring 1/2 or so of what it normally does. Hmmm.... ok so I figure the fan may be draining to much power because I have sooo much in the system! so I unplug it and the system runs fine... well added it up and it should not have taxed the system that bad so I plug it into a different pc and the same thing! made it run slow as heck! Ok now this is getting to odd so I plug it into my bullet proof frankenstein computer, again made the thing run slow as frozen icecream! Took the fan back bought another figuring I had a bad one and now the new one is doing the same thing! I praise vantec for making one hell of a fan cfm wise in a small package, but would be nice if it worked in a pc. Anyone else had similar experience with the tornado..?? This thing must cause some serious feedback in the system. very very odd.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
as long as its not plugged onto ur mobo's 3 pin plug, u should be fine high speed cpu fans usualy drains about 5 watts or even up to 7 i havent heard anything about the tornado though good luck on finding the problem btw try putting ur old HSF back and check if any permanent damages is done to the system |
:0
Oh no damage was donw, it was not for the hsf, it was just an 80mm intake fan for the system! That's all :) everything is working fast as usual now.
|
oh
the case fan hmm... uve tried plugging it into a line without anything attached to it right? lines other than the one used by hd |
Yep. Done it all man! And they caused chaos with all of my systems.
|
tell vantec to compensate for the "damage"
or change back to sunon and see what happens |
:)
Aldready changed them back to sunon green lables, everything is working killer. I will contact vantc over this and rip on them, in the mean time I am getting an ulser so hosta *L*
|
getting what?
|

Accurateimage: What size PSU were you using?
|
:)
It is a 400 somthing watt antec, don't feel like sliding the pc out of it's homade rack to take a look *L* I will probably look tonight to tell for sure But I remeber it saying 400watt on the antec box.
|
431 watts?
or 400? |
:)
I will have to look :)
|
# PP403x that is the model # off of it.
|
that doesnt tell much
u need to find the actualy watts that is provided by it that 403 number doesnt mean it provides 403 watts |
|
:)
Here are the specs,

:)
Everything works awsome, but that fan, with I had a scope to see what it is doing, see even if I take the power off everything in any of my systems it seriousl goofs them up! sometimes they just will not start up, somtimes they do and run super super slow. Very very odd, that is why I said it has nothing to do with my supply, I think it is somhow causing feeback in the system or is radiating allot of noise.
|
Wow that site I posted the specs up on ios way overpriced! I bought that supply for $49.99 locally *LOL*
|
Do you have that same supply evil..??
|
:)
Here is the other really annoying part is the fan is acutally louder than my air conditioning unit when running, actually a LOT louder *LOL* A little less than a hair dryer would be accurate, I turned it on for the first time while my girl was watching a movie and it was loud enough to make her get mad at me :)
|
lol
get rid of that evil fan immediately! dont ruin the relationship! lol nah, i just grabbed that pic from the net while doing research on this matter i actualy have a sparkle power supply 300 watts only but the quality is good it is stable and enough for my setup at the moment |
:)
Think I am gonna give it to a guy I really hate as a present *LOL* his b-day is coming up hehehe >:)
|
oh u bad boy
hehehe this makes a great thing for sabatoges lets just hope it does the same thing to his comp hehehehe u evil AI be my vassel i need more evil minions to join me in over taking of the world MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA  |
:)
