I have Brainbench Windows 95 Admin. and currently going to school for my A+, Net+.
r-e :) |
Re: Who here is certified?
How is the studying for the Net +? I am thinking about going and getting some books for it and start training.
|
Re: Who here is certified?
Admin,
I recommend Exam Prep Network+ by David Watts, Network+ by David Groth. Those are the 2 I had the option of choosing from. Both are pretty good books, I have the Exam Prep Network+. Also Sybex books Whatever you choose good luck, you will do good. I am taking a A+, Net+ class, and I am reading up with the book so I will not be clueless when I get in class. r-e ;) |
Re: Who here is certified?
Sounds great. I will definetly have to check out those books. Hey when you finally get certified report back to us!
|
Re: Who here is certified?
Oh for sure, I wish my class wasn't so long, but I guess I will get the material drilled in my head.
|
Re: Who here is certified?
I have my MCSE on NT 4, i also have my CNA (novell)
and i failed the RHCE (redhat linux) Exam :( , but i am going to do it again and then i will pass it. |
Re: Who here is certified?
Did you take classes for the MCSE or did you do self study?
|
Re: Who here is certified?
I've got my A+. Sort of something to do during the summer about a year ago I guess. Up and coming would be my CCNA. I'm really excited on starting that one fairly soon. There's some good stuff there.
|
Re: Who here is certified?
I'm A+ certified, and now am looking at Server+. Doing the self study for MCSE 2000, but not really motivated.
|
Re: Who here is certified?
I am mentally certifiable but that's the only cert I have :'(
10th grade drop out - GED cert? Does that count? Been in the industry for somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 years professionally and forever and a day personally +/- a day or two when I was in diapers ;D Have worked for Gateway2000, Meril Lynch Online, Netscape, HP, and some others. Currently working for myslef and WVI my local ISP. |
Re: Who here is certified?
I will be talking my Access 2000 certification test in a week or two....wish me luck!
|
Re: Who here is certified?
I just finished getting my AS degree in computer science and now I am beginning to take courses to prepare for MCSE certification. My friends and co-workers say I have a natural talent for programming and logic so I should do well.
|
Re: Who here is certified?
I have my A+ certification and if i ever get off my lazy butt im gonna go for novell CNE :)
|
Re: Who here is certified?
How hard is the A+ test?
|
Re: Who here is certified?

Re: Who here is certified?
I have my A+ and just have to take my test for my NET+ and I'm a CS major.
|
Re: Who here is certified?
I just got my A+ this summer. It was so easy. I only studied for a month by myself. I just signed up for the test, didn't do anything, bought Mike Myer's A+ book a month before the test, and then crammed a lot the last week before the test and did pretty well on it.
I'm not sure what I'm getting next. I want to get MSCE but I'll get that last since you have to keep updating it. I'll probably go for a networking cert next. What's the difference between CNA and CCNA? Are they better than Net+? |
Re: Who here is certified?
Net+ is sort of the basics and isnt tied down to a specific vendors product.
CNA and CCNA are both Cisco (http://www.cisco.com) certifications and thus center around there product array of Routers and Switches and what not.. To be CNA qualified you only have to complete one module from any Cisco certification. CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) IS an actual certification, though I think it only has 1 or 2 tests....most others have more than that. Been a while since Ive looked into this...anyone feel free to correct me if Im wrong and if I remember they have alot of info on there site about all this stuff anyway. Cheers. Simo |
Re: Who here is certified?
Ironically, I'm actually in the class for my CCNA certification while I'm writing this. There's a whole page about the different levels of certification on Cisco's page. CCNA is the lowest level (of three, I think) of certification from Cisco. Basically there's lots of different levels for the course.
To the best of my understanding, 1-4 are required for CCNA, and then one has to pass some test(s). Then after that there's further levels, at least through 8, I believe. |
Re: Who here is certified?
hey all, i just passed my Access 2000 certification test!
wahoo. |
Re: Who here is certified?
Congratulations, I've heard that the Access test is fairly difficult. I messed around with Access for a little bit once, and I couldn't make heads or tails out of it ::). Do you have any new job openings that you can take advantage of your new certification?
|
Re: Who here is certified?
I am MCSE, A+, NTCIP. Looking forward to getting MCSE 2K and CCNA
|
Re: Who here is certified?
Certified in MCSE NT but that'll change at the end of the year as Im sure most of you know. Im currently self-studying for MCSE2K. Im just about ready to take the 70-210, should be easy. I found some interesting combinations you can make with the 2000 exams. If you take 2 of the SQL exams as the electives and this one VB exam (not sure which) you get the MCDBA cert. That coupled with 2 other VB exams and now you have a MCSD cert. Thats what Im lookin at doin.

Just got my MCSA cert on my way to the MCSE in a couple of weeks. I'm doing all self study. I'm reading through the books and then i'm using brain dumps and real-exams for knowledge verification.

|
Have A+, working on Network+, although I'm fairly sidetracked with an Access project, and PHP/MySQL coding on the side...
|
Ooops, that was me :/

Certs...
Currently getting ready to take the test for the Certified Wireless Networking Admin from Planet 3 Wireless. CWNA looks to be pretty hot the study materials we're even back ordered through Bookpool and a lot of other online book sellers.
Other certs I've got: A+, MCSE (NT4), CCNA, CNA, and two cabling certs sponsered by Lucent one in CAT 5 and one in Fiber. |
I passed the A+ exam two years ago and passed my CCNA one year ago.
I took the CCNP course and only passed Routing and switching. Planning to take remote and support later on this year. On top of that, I'm in college and majoring in computer science. |
I have my A+.. took a class in school for it. I think i'm the only one from that class that actually went out and got the cert lol.. hasn't helped me at all yet though...
