MrJekyll 01-06-2003 09:48 PM

how much do you want for the Burner?

chaplndave 01-07-2003 11:25 PM

How much are you asking for the Pioneer 16X DVD? Is it slot load or tray?

Vapor 01-08-2003 11:00 PM

Just give me a reasonable offer and then its yours.

chaplndave 01-08-2003 11:26 PM

Slot load or tray??? What type of payment do you take (PayPal? C2It? or ???)

Vapor 01-09-2003 06:26 PM

When you say slot load or tray what do you mean? It loads into the case just like a cd rom does. So I suppose slot load. And I accept paypal and money order (have to wait till i receive payment though).

Everything is backed by me, if you dont like what you received you can return it to me for a full refund, I don't want to make anyone unsatisfied. Everything I sell is not messed up in anyway, there is just no need for it anymore in my computer and I gotta make up some the money I spent on a 200gig and dvdrw.

eviltechie 01-09-2003 07:01 PM

a normal cdrom loads by tray
as the eject button pushes a tray out which you can put the CD onto and load the tray back in with a push or a press of eject button

the slot load is a ODD without the tray
simply a cd width opening with some velvet to brush off some dust while pushing the CD itself directly into the hole

Vapor 01-11-2003 02:23 PM

o ok then it is tray.

chaplndave 01-11-2003 03:16 PM

Thanks for the clarification...I am looking for a slot load. Sorry...

eviltechie 01-11-2003 04:05 PM

i think Aopen has some slot loads

as for the Pioneer
one of the 16x model that is a slot load is the 105S DVD-Rom Drive

chaplndave 01-11-2003 10:11 PM

et...I've looked at the AOpen, but for some reason it never seems to be rated as high as the Pioneer...and I think Pioneer makes it for AOpen and they just slap their name on it. As for the Pioneer...it is the 106S/2...at least thats the latest model number I have seen.

I just put a TDK 48/16-24/48 internal CD-RW into my machine...now I want to put a DVD player in. I have Windows XP Home and when I tried to install a Philips Acoustic Edge sound card....everything got screwed up. Ended up uninstalling the sound card...which never did install correctly. I think I will pick up a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. I have had really good luck with them on every system I have installed them on. I have never had a glitch...so its back to Turtle Beach for me.

Thanks again...chaplndave

http://www.pcfusion.com.au/reviews/pioneer105s/

one of their older models
16x/40x

why do u prefer slot load though?

ive never tried Turtle Beach before but lots of magazines are saying that it is the king of sound cards and gives the best sound and stuff

someday ill try it

chaplndave 01-12-2003 03:01 PM

With the slot load you get a digital hookup on the back. It is a small two pin slot that hard wires to your sound card, enabling the transfer of digital information. It also has the standard four-wire analog hook up as well. That...plus the fact that the specs on the 106S/2 are better than the old Pioneer 116 and 117. Don't know if that holds true for the newly released 119 tray load model. I do know the 119 is supposed to be quieter and the tray has some sort of fluid dampener to make the tray load smoother...at least that is what I have heard.

I did just buy a new TDK 48/16-24/48 CD-RW last night. CompUSA has a great deal...it is just $79.99 with a $40 rebate. Can't believe you can get such a good deal on a fast and top-rated burner.

All I need for this new machine yet is the Santa Cruz sound card, the DVD player and a set of speakers. Would like to buy some Klipsch like I have for my other computer... Alas, looks like I will only be able to afford a set of the Logitech Z-340s They are only like $35-40 and sound pretty good for inexpensive speakers. I can always replace them with the Klipsch at some future time.

I am also having an issue with a bad Crucial memory module. Still waiting to hear back from Crucial to see how good their limited lifetime warranty really is. Oh well, this building and rebuilding is a never-ending story...but it keeps me off the streets. Now if I could just win a few million in the lottery.....  ;)
