Super tiny water cooling kit?!?!

CiKoTiC 03-20-2003 09:24 AM

Here is what overclockers.com had to say....

Quote:

The Gyrox CP101 CPU Cooler is one of the worst I have ever tested. It can make a great conversation piece for a geek's coffee table or a paper weight.

eviltechie 03-20-2003 01:28 PM

heh

thanx!

accurateimage 03-20-2003 11:15 PM

I would be scared to attatch that to any chip...

Tekime 05-07-2003 10:52 AM

Yikes, that thing is weird looking. For that price you're much better off investing a few more dollars in proepr water cooling system though!

BioHazard 08-10-2003 07:55 AM

I would not buy this!!

It was a very good cooler at first. Then terror struck when the pump gave out and the coolant leaked all over my board, cards, everything. I am currently building a new computer because of this cooler. Take it from me, it sucks balls, and costs you more in the end.

Jason 08-10-2003 11:42 AM

As with all watercooler, heatsink combo's to date the idea is good but the implementation could use work.

eviltechie 08-11-2003 01:59 AM

im just planning to do a dangerden maze4 now
seems that risk is low

gnogtr 08-11-2003 06:08 PM

I have a Thermaltake Aquarius II and it is excellent. I'm overclocking and my CPU temps and case temps are lower then they have ever been even with the case closed up. Of course my very top notch airflow design I did myself helps....For $109 from www.dealsonic.com, it is an exceptional cooling system at a very affordable price.

Jason 08-12-2003 06:34 AM

Eviltechie,

You wont be dissappointed with the Maze 4. you might also want to check out the PolarFLO here www.polarFLO.com I just got to look at the block and test it. Produced better results than the maze 3 so it might even beat the maze 4, not sure. but looks cooler in my opinion.

eviltechie 08-12-2003 12:48 PM

eh?
that thing looks like its made to crush my athlon xp die
lol

a bit scary
must be very heavy

also i still cant figure out what that 3rd fitting is for??

08-12-2003 01:05 PM

Its lighter than the maximum AMD guidelines, wont crush anything. The three fittings are for water of course, central barb in an inlet, and the two outter ones are outlets.

My review will be posted shortly.

gnogtr 08-12-2003 01:51 PM

I wouldn't even let my dog play with that thing, I wouldn't put it on a Pentium 133! It might burn that up.

eviltechie 08-13-2003 08:06 PM

i think ill just spend 750 CAD on a whole set of maze4 cooling with a good aluminum case and a good antec PSU

gnogtr 08-16-2003 12:31 PM

Good choice Evil.

eviltechie 08-17-2003 02:26 AM

ok screw antec PSUs
its just a rebadged channelwell PSU that comes with the x-pider case from turbocase

so this is gonna save me like 50 bucks not falling for the hyped up antec...

gnogtr 08-17-2003 05:43 PM

I have the X-spider case, but I hate to say that the PSU I got with it burnt out 2 sets of Cathode lights I had in my case...

PolarFLO 08-18-2003 01:00 PM

If anyone in this forum would like to ask questions about our PolarFLO water block, I am available anytime. Gnogtr, do you have any questions about the PolarFLO water block? You seem quite hostile towards it.

Best Regards to all.

eviltechie 08-18-2003 07:44 PM

gnogtr was hostile towards the tiny watercooling heatsink fan setup for my first post

ive got a question
how do you mount the polarflo waterblock?
what mounting hardware comes with it?

and i dont understand what the third fitting on the block is for

PolarFLO 08-18-2003 08:14 PM

Oh... my mistake. To answer your questions:

The PolarFLO Universal Water Block mounts via the 4 mounting holes on the motherboard that comes on both AMD and Intel systems. Right now there is about a 50/50 split on the AMD motherboards that do not come with the mounting holes. This problem will soon be remedied with a clip that will allow mounting to the AMD Socket A directly. The PolarFLO comes with 4 nylon bolts, washers, thumbnuts and 5 hose clamps and a Y-splitter. That is more than enough to get one started.

As for the 3 connectors. First let me explain the premise of our water-cooling theory. The center connector is the inlet. The center inlet is responsible for delivering the supply of water directly over the chip. This center inlet is specially designed to bring a high velocity jet of water about .020 over the top of a special geometry machined into the copper base. This now brings us to the reason for 2 outlets. In order to eliminate uneven convection inside the water block it needs to have a relatively symmetric flow. With one connector the flow would be limited to very uneven flow. The addition of a second outlet, we created a more symmetric flow and also made it possible for the flow exiting the inlet nozzle to reach its maximum possible velocity.

This is the best performance water block on the market. Wait until you read Jason's Review.

eviltechie 08-19-2003 11:42 AM

so how do the fittings connect?
got any good photos?

or do i have to wait then eventually give up for polarflo and go for maze4?

PolarFLO 08-19-2003 03:08 PM

Very funny... if you did go with a Maze 4, you would be giving up.

If everything works correctly with attaching the following pictures, you can get an idea of how the connectors look when everything is hooked up. These pictures are of one of our first test systems. I suppose the only other way for you to learn more about the PolarFLO is to buy one.

Best

eviltechie 08-19-2003 03:34 PM

my dear polarflo friend...

a true successful salesperson will try to distinguish the differences if you believe that the maze4 is an inferior product compared to the polarflo...

is polarflo even available in BC, Canada?
i think not

if you back up your statement with more evidences and proofs then i will definately go for the performance gain

come on, give me all you've got
there are many people here that wants watercooling as well

;)

PolarFLO 08-19-2003 04:27 PM

Ok... you got me on that one :/

Let me start over. There are two main differences between the PolarFLO and the rest of the water blocks out there in the world. The first difference is the flow arrangement. Many blocks on the market now are "cross-flow" type blocks. This means that the water enters one side of the block and crosses to the other side and along the way runs against some type of convection inducing geometry. Our PolarFLO is a "jet-impingement" type flow arrangement. Hydrodynamically speaking this flow arrangement allows for what is known as fully developed flow. The flow reaches its maximum velocity at this fully developed region. From there it strikes or impinges the convection inducing geometry and the lion's share of the heat transfer occurs. This concludes the first reason why our PolarFLO is better. Simply stated: the PolarFLO's use of direct jet impingement flow is more reliable and more performance yielding.

Reason number two is more subjective but it still has some teeth. Reason number two is simply that it looks better. A PC enthusiast is able to select a more defining sense of self with the variety of color and industrial plating options available to the polarflo. Sure we have the old blue color, but we also have black, green, red and purple. Then we have all sorts of platings (not decorative platings these are heavy industrial platings) in 24k gold, chrome and copper. It doesn't really end there when you consider that we also have 3/8" or 1/2" fittings or a combination of the two.

PolarFLOs are available in Canada... see www.polarflo.com we ship internationally. Even some of our resellers ship internationally.

This is only the beginning. Wait until you see our GPU water blocks, our Fan Mount Jigs (a tool that allows precise location of fan patterns) and our new manifold system for proper water distribution. There's even more I cannot tell you, but you'll see soon enough.

Hope this helps your decision... wait for Jason's review. I just spoke with him and he told me that it will be up sometime this week.

Did the pictures help?

Best to all.

gnogtr 08-19-2003 05:28 PM

No, I don't have anything against the Polarblock, just the tiny cooler. That looks quite cool, but I just spent the rest of my $$ on a Creative 5.1 surround system for my compuer :D

eviltechie 08-20-2003 04:49 PM

maybe i can do a review for you too for HardwareExtreme.com

www.hwextreme.com or www.hardwareextreme.com

name's David Hsieh

i hate buying thing from US
has to go through custom and gets taxed up so much that i would puke to cool my system...

gnogtr 08-21-2003 12:32 AM

Can't you just find the same product in Canada for pretty much the same price? I had to RMA a card to ATI and they sent it from Canada on Express shipping and it took nearly a day just to clear customs. You'd think that they wouldn't have to do customs from Canada....Oh well...

PolarFLO 08-21-2003 02:03 AM

As far as a review sample... you may discuss that with me via email.

As far as our good neighbor to the north... i have had a dealing or two with firestorm computers... maybe in calgary? I don't remember where in canada, but i believe that they would be a good venue from which to distribute our products. Otherwise i don't really know of any distributors, er uh resellers up there. If you know of any please let me know. Otherwise you may wish to harass firestorm computers into carrying our products. We do ship up there from time to time. I was not aware that you had to pay extra to recieve your stuff from the USA. That really burns my ass. If you were to buy our waterblock, say for 54.99 USD from our site, how much would you have to pay extra just to get it in your hands? I would like to know.

Thanks

Best to all.

eviltechie 08-21-2003 08:24 PM

something like 20% custom tax
shipping and all that crap makes it feel like ive got a foot up my ass as well...

i know a couple of very good retailors that i can hook you up with
one just started carrying Maze4 stuff so im not sure if they will allow you guys into their store as well...

www.NCIX.com
and
www.vibecomputers.com

vibecomps is the one with maze4 and is where im gonna get my pumps and radiators and all the stuff from
the waterblock then of course depends on how this conversation goes
lol

ill ttyl on email
ive gotta talk with my boss first

Uni-Tec 08-21-2004 08:23 PM

Cooling

I use an OCZ, and it works really great... especially during gaming.
