also why was Kuwait hit with 2 missiles today when there were patriot batteries with troops in Kuwait?

where are the evidences of successful patriot hit?

duh man, 1 missle was a malfunctioning tomahawk, 1 missle got through and did no harm and 3-4 have been shot down, I would say it is a hero system *LOL*

even the investigator for the Patriot act found no true evidence that the Patriot has more than 20% of success rate

infact, it was only the computer recording hits
and videos people see on TV only show that patriot broke down by itself

and one US Army General explained to the investigation commitee that by the definition of "hit"
it means the tragectories of both missiles have been met

Guess we threw rocks at these today being the missle system does not work becasue the first version did not work so many years ago. That is like saying BMW and Volkswagon still have horrible wireing right now because they did 10 years ago. Or like saying computers are still slow as hell because that 486 I had 10 years ago was sooo slow. *LOL* Also they have fired more missles that must have just fallen out of the sky becasue they never made it even close to hitting their targets, and only two so far sent from iraq were just off target so badly that they landed miles away from the city in the desert. Makes me keep wondering how those missles shot are just suddenly crashing after passing patriot missle sites? why are they just dissapearing from radar? someone shooting them down with an m-16?

I ain't pickin sides but what's good for the goose is good for the gander, don't start it if you don't want to hear it. Next the patriot doesn't need to "hit" the missle to score a hit. As long as the patriot comes within a certain range and detonates it can damage and/or destroy the intercepted missle. As far as shots to kill I'm not sure but I'll have to start checkin' around. In my mind anything like this is impressive, just imagine shooting a bullet out of the air with another gun, not exactly the same thing but pretty damn close.

Also if you want to read more reports continue on and you will see that it would be hard to develop anything to go against the shoddy construction of a scud missle. shoddy = break up upon reentry (no ability to guide, just hope it hits something) tumbling through the air (see last) and general inablity for accurate deployment and targeting. One of the chief failures sited was the inability for the patriot to lock on the "multiple pieces" of an incoming scud. The scud's had already begun disentigration. At that point no one would know where's it's gonna land, not even those that fired it, and more than likey the safest place is where it was orignally intended to go. The odds of it hitting there are extremly low if it's already came apart and began tumbling. The multiple pieces would confuse the patriot and the misses could in some amount be accounted for with this in mind. Was it perfect, no. Did it work, yes, to what extent I guess it is still up for debate. But if you want to know if it works it would be to test it against a functional and truly dangerous system. My $.02

I would have to say without even question "please protect me with a patriot system" so if your so confident from old info that the system is a hoax, would you actually not care of one was protecting you? I would be scared shitless if I did not have a patriot system watching over me and someone was fireing a missle at me with the targeting pc equal to a playstation 2 *LOL*

Oh yeah, god bless those iraqies that are surrendering and seeing the light, I have been seeing not only a surrender but so far a 20% defection rate which is not just a surrender but them saying "hey we will fight for you if you ask giving up all data they have" that percentage may not be accurate but I am seeing that figure on 3 different channels and online.

Before the Gulf War, any missle or rocket fired had a 100 percent chance of NOT getting shot down. Why? Because the technology didn't exist.

Now, there IS a chance of shooting down a missle or rocket. Who cares what the percentage is, every one that is shot down means less casualties and should be celebrated.

This is like complaining that every bullet out of a machine gun don't kill something. :shake:

I would assume hitting a missle with another missle is no easy task. The shrear fact that it CAN happen some of the time is freaking amazing.

Heck, for the skeptics that believe they don't work at all consider this.... AT LEAST THEY ARE TRYING! :P

anyone see the video of the patriot system shooting down that scud released yesterday? Also they gave the official tally on how many the patriots have knocked out but I do not want to quote it for I will get my jumped on if I am off by 1 *LOL* so from what I "remeber" it was 3 missiles not just scud missles knocked down thx to a patriot 3 system manned by americans and 1 missle was taken out by a patriot system that was manned by kuwait soldiers. Out of the two missle that hit kuwait 1 missile was a tomahawk that went nuts and did no harm, another was a scud that was damaged by the P3 system that made it through but did no damage and crashed harmlessly, 2 more missiles that passed the boarder from iraq were so far off target that they were out of range by the patriot system and just crashed into nowere in the desert, all agencies are reporting the patriot 3 as an increadible success! I know someone will see that is propaganda but those are the facts so far I have seen that I remember and not a direct quote. Also the video of the P3 system blowing that missile out of the sky was killer :) watch Fox news and they will show it again sometime today!

i dont agree with the way this debate was handled, too much hostlity, but i am an American, and i am proud. i was alittle dissapointed at some coments made, but there is no reason for all this drama. some people who got all butt hurt need to calm down and act like adults, and see that everyone is entitled to their opinions, and we need to respect that. although just because we have opinions, doesnt mean we need to voice them without thinking who we may hurt after it has been done.

Come, come now lads, if past experience has taught us anything, it's don't believe what u read and half of what they show u.

The technology that is there, is fantastic. Most of the patriots on the frontline are the old ones being used up and the tactic this time is that there are multiple firings for each single interception attempted.

Is it working ? We don't know as yet but we sure as hell hope so! My lil bro is on the frontline so I hope to God it's working.
They were working against time to get the new technology Patriots onto the battlefield in selected sensitive areas to backup the old ones. Untried but expected to do great.

Take everything with a pinch of salt though. Information on the war is also a way of informing Iraq of what we would like them to think as well.

Their best intelligence often comes off of CNN.

So lets keep things civil, its a tough time and friendships can be strained during wars, quite often for no good reason.

And what's the deal with the Canadian bashing? The "peaceful" canadian component of this war is the new targeting technology of the patriot and many other pieces of offering we're dropping in on Saddam.
So although Canada does'nt officially have troops in this assault, I think the fact that they conveniently scrambled and sent their warships into the region for "their usual" duties, just in time for them to reach the region, in time for the first assaults, should give the more astute a hint at what's really going down.

Lets save the rest of this discussion for after the conflict is over.

Please let us pray for the safety of the people who are over there fighting for our sakes. That they may survive to come home to their loved ones.

Actually sucks the patriot system works so well, it looks like a p3 system shot down a Friendly plane...
Group Capt. Al Lockwood, a spokesman for British forces in the Gulf, said the aircraft may have been shot down over Kuwait.


"One of our aircraft recovering from operations over Kuwait, evidence is beginning to come to light that suggests it was engaged by a U.S. Patriot missile," Lockwood told the British Broadcasting Corp.


Asked whether "engaged" meant "shot down," Lockwood said: "Evidence is pointing in that direction."


A U.S. official confirmed that a Patriot missile battery "may have engaged" the aircraft near the Kuwaiti border. The official said that was all the information available at this point.
