add a forum style

I'm not flamming or anything...I am just going to give some suggestions/comments. I stopped posting here for a few months and I cam back recently to the same old forum layout. It wasn't attractive at all. As soon as I got here I just wanted to leave. I think the admin should add another style in the profile options. The white and blue is getting boring and I think if you change it around a bit we might get more members. Again, im only posting my comments for the better of the site.

MIK3 08-27-2003 12:04 AM

We have 3 admins here and not one of them decide to respond to this...and ITS BEEN ONE MONTH. Bah. What is this forum coming to...?

Keefe 12-18-2003 11:08 PM

Its hard to add more styles because our install of phpbb is so heavily modded. I will talk with Uranium and see what he thinks about that.

Thanks for your comments!

Jason425 12-18-2003 11:48 PM

4 month old post gets a reply, woohoo! :)

MIK3 12-22-2003 03:27 AM

lol. I don't know if that was a smartass remark or not, but I'm cracking up. Haha. Man. Uranium-235...where the hell has be been anyway that crazy kid...haha.

Cannon 08-29-2004 06:29 PM

its not about the looks its about what is inside(information)...

Jason425 08-29-2004 07:25 PM

Cannon 08-29-2004 09:08 PM

have you ever said that to a girl?

Jason425 09-02-2004 12:30 PM

 wouldn't we all like to live by that saying... but in practice, we know better.. ;)

Cannon 09-02-2004 05:38 PM

does your mom count? lol jk

well if i culd get a girl then i might try it but me being anerd and all doesnt really work out with the ladies 8)

Jason425 09-02-2004 05:51 PM

pretty much... we'd rather spend time and money on our 2.4c's and 9800 pro's than with them;)

vee_ess 09-02-2004 11:11 PM

ha ha I'm glad I don't have a 2.4c or 9800 then!

MIK3 09-02-2004 11:18 PM

Ah haha. I 2nd that.

Jason425 09-02-2004 11:32 PM

fair enough.. I get my ghz oc, you get aids.. ;)

Dragon 09-03-2004 09:09 AM

good points all. girls are more expensive than computers by alot. i spent 200 on a video card, then 600 on a ring for my girlfriends 18th birthday (not sure how i justified not doing the opposite). plus $50-60 dinners like.. weekly.

Jason425 09-03-2004 09:58 AM

:shake: :o you learned your lesson .. $600 video card, $200 ring.. ;)

StinkyMojo 09-03-2004 12:02 PM

$400 ring $400 vid card 8)

Jason425 09-03-2004 02:08 PM

nope, $799.50 card, .50 ring from the thing @ the grocery store 8)

StinkyMojo 09-03-2004 06:44 PM

What, are you getting some FireGL vid card? :P

Dragon 09-03-2004 08:18 PM

huh, why spend 200 extra for a card engineered for cad not farcry? and btw which fire gl did you mean?

Dragon 09-03-2004 08:23 PM

Back to the point...... we may as well throw scheme ideas at them for a new forum style. see if they like one. i think a midnight blue or similar scheme would be cool as far as colors go.

or like a sort of milled stainless steel look.

even something simple and geeky, like the old TI comp green screen type looks.

StinkyMojo 09-03-2004 08:36 PM

hmm 04 Civic or http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_g...asterid=699847

which one?

Jason425 09-03-2004 09:44 PM

$5 rebate YES! the gl

Cannon 09-04-2004 09:44 AM

HELL YES 8)

vee_ess 09-04-2004 09:17 PM

I wouldn't want either. For 15 grand you can get a late sixties Firebird or something in great condition. And while we're OT, $700 ring and $100 video card. I got a BFG 56 U which beat a friends ATi 96 XT ;) (btw he even had it on his 2.4c while i had mine on my 1.0 athlon) for a hundred bucks, so why spend any more. Plus a video card doesn't help you out with the lady.

Jason425 09-04-2004 09:48 PM

that's a pile of lucky crap then.. he must have been running SETI and defragging during 3dmark or something...

vee_ess 09-04-2004 11:57 PM

Ha ha, no he kept making up excuses, and he even reformatted. If we both had FX-53's then maybe his would have beat mine. But ATi's are useless on low-end and mid-end systems, he doesn't have one of the best procs out. Real graphic cards do the graphics processing themselves, they don't need to get the processor to do it for them. Also, mine's a BFG, makes a difference, and the 96 XT's weren't ahead in the first place. If you look at the entire picture, it's not that surpising. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, he insisted on trying multiple benchmarks (however I didn't want to keep going on forever til he found a BM that he could beat me with so I stopped at two, Dacris and 3DMark).

Jason425 09-05-2004 01:38 AM

i almost guarantee he'd kill you in shadermark... and maybe aquamark too..

vee_ess 09-05-2004 01:02 PM

His card suites his purposes and mine suits mine. I have a 1GHz proc, so really, does any one believe that an ATi would work better on my system than an nVidia? Especially when there is nothing for the ATi to pass the work off to? I'm not saying my system is slow or anything, it just doesn't have the raw power to give out a high number of megaflops. (BTW, his 2.4c un-overclocked benched only 48% faster than mine ;))

Jason425 09-05-2004 01:17 PM

well if amd had that lame marketing thing going yours would prob be a 1500+ or something.. so it's about even...

vee_ess 09-05-2004 01:33 PM

Mine is a Thunderbird core, far better than the Palaminos that replaced them (except for the actual clock speed), and by looking at the benchmarks, it's more like 1750+ or so.

Either way my point was you can get a nice video card for 100 bucks, any amount over that will give you only enough gain for you to marginally notice. The extra money you put into a ring, you'll definately notice.

Jason425 09-05-2004 01:59 PM

I was ready to almost compromise with you on the first one.. but the 2nd... I'm just going to have to pretend you didn't say that....

so in regards to the first, don't even try to tell me that a 6800 or x800 is only a marginally noticable gain from a 5600 or 9600.. they're worlds apart..

vee_ess 09-07-2004 12:24 AM

Well, yeah the 6800's and the x800's are in another class altogether, I was thinking more of the same generation when I said that.

Jason425 09-07-2004 11:22 AM

compromise accepted...

vee_ess 09-09-2004 04:11 AM

Awesome, and thanks!

Jason425 09-11-2004 04:52 PM

way to get us back on track.. what'd be sweet is OPTIONS in the prefs.. like diff schemes.. that'd be fun...

Dragon 01-30-2005 11:41 AM

so whats happening with this idea anyway?

Uranium-235 01-30-2005 03:07 PM

we're switching to VBulletin. Since it's highly unlikely I'll have to do any modding on it (the templates will stay the same), we can probably install different styles

Dragon 01-31-2005 10:24 AM

awesome!
