Hey i waS lookiNg at my keyboard leds ANd dReaming :) HEHEH anyways i was just wondering WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SCROLL LOCK FOR? Its been on a keyboard for ages and NO ONE seems to know how to use it or what its used for! :) please tell me thanks

The original purpose of the scroll lock was that when it is turned on, it would pause text scrolling down the screen until it is turned off again.  However, it only works on software that supports it, which most software today does not.

yup, and without, the winamp keyboard led vu-meter wouldn´t be as fun as it is ;D

Go buy yourself Hitman: Codename 47
Then goto www.3dactionplanet.com/hitman47 and find a link to the latest patch (its there somewhere).
Now when in the game hit Scroll Lock...

Im not going o tell you what it does...oh...ok ill give a hint...If you liked Max Payne you will be impressed.

Scroll Lock also flashes when a person on your Bulletproof FTP server sends you (the admin) a SITE MSG and its minimised to the task bar.

Oh Ok just cuz its currently christmas and Im wearing Raindear horns on my head and Im happy.

Basically it puts the game into slow motion, like bullet time in Max Payne, except it has no time limit on how long you use it for.....its so cool....you can see bullets from Machine Guns coming at you and dodge them.

You used to have to access the Slo Mo by opening the console and typing in some cryptic command line, but it became so popular that the developers decided to include it in the latest patch.

Another interesting side effect of it is that when you shoot someone with a powerful gun, like the sawn off shot gun they will fly to the other side of the room in slow motion, but not at normal speed....you can do heaps of cool thing like shoot garbage cans so high in the air that they dissapear into the sky..

Actually, in Microsoft Excel, if you have Scroll Lock turned on, it will scroll around the spreadsheet in the direction of the arrow key you press.  It won't, however, change the active cell.  Pretty annoying, if you ask me, but hey, I guess some people have screen resolutions of less than 1600x1200.  *shrug*

:/ as far as I know, that useless key was a handy key before. I don't know if u can remember "wordstar" a DOS based word editor. very handy during that time.

Anyways, You have the liberty to pluck it out of your keyboard. >:)
