StinkyMojo 01-30-2004 10:20 AM

not bad... newegg.com has a Seagate 120gb SATA 8mb buffer for the same price

Jason425 01-30-2004 07:16 PM

i wouldn't buy that.. SATA is the future.. no more IDE drives for me..

vee_ess 01-31-2004 10:12 PM

That's exactly what I told my dad today.

james 02-01-2004 02:03 PM

but what's wrong w/ massive decent speed /reliable/ (its seagate) storage today??

vee_ess 02-01-2004 05:41 PM

It's a hundred bucks towards SATA.

StinkyMojo 02-02-2004 10:24 AM

Yep.. I think this deal wil never be topped...... for now

vee_ess 02-03-2004 09:27 PM

Just by sheer quality, I think this tops everything.

Jason425 02-03-2004 09:37 PM

Hey, with 5.4ms access time, if I had the money to spend on hard drives like that I'd RAID 4 of them.

Jason425 02-03-2004 10:19 PM

the WD is 4.5 i think.. 4 of em? nothing like $1k+ on hd's.. and then you're NOT EVEN AT 300 GIG!!!!

vee_ess 02-06-2004 12:09 AM

Size isn't everything. When I show you my 1.7 second boot time, I'm pretty sure you'll agree :P!

And, yeah you're right, it's 4.5ms access time.

Jason425 02-06-2004 12:25 PM

well yea size isn't everything.. until you need it. :/

StinkyMojo 02-06-2004 03:52 PM

yeah... according to your 40+ free gigs, you dont need it so buy a raptor. now......GO!!!

Jason425 02-06-2004 06:00 PM

uhm.. if/when i got a raptor.. I wouldn't be using the 45g drive and probably wouldn't be using the 80g.. it'd slow things down and I can't afford it. Not to mention that the raptor is too expensive, loud and hot for me.. and the $/GIG ratio is simply ghastly. The seagate sata drive is the real winner.

StinkyMojo 02-08-2004 06:53 PM

Thats what I said... but noooooooo, no one agrees

Prometheus 02-08-2004 07:51 PM

:soapbox: oh give me a break.. you were telling me how saving up for the raptor is a good deal and that it's not loud.. it's a 32 db screamer.. (for me that's too loud for a HD) you had mentioned the seagate but then changed your opinion. I liked the raptor even though it was a colassal ripoff until i saw how loud it is. :banghead:

StinkyMojo 02-10-2004 10:41 AM

 Ok, thanks for making up things and claiming I'd said them.. This is going on pretty rampant..so step off and stop trying to to look for something to accuse me of.. you dont own this forum. Also, do using those gay emotcons make you feel cool? Sorry, but don't post your dreams that you have about me telling us what I said that aren't true.
