Access 97 to Access 2000 conversion question
Out of all the databases that I have converted, there is one that strikes me as odd. I converted it the same way I converted other dbs. These are the steps:
Create a new Access 2000 db. Copy all tables, queries, forms, reports, modules. Update references. Compile. All the other databases seem to be fine except this one. The size of it just keeps on growing and it is getting slower, locking up, losing data, and the list goes on... I tried converting this db twice this way, and with the same results. I finally ended up using the conversion wizard and hopefully this will clear it up. But I was wondering if anyone here has had something like this happen. |
Re: Access 97 to Access 2000 conversion question
Ive had some issues with 97 - 2000 conversions, but nothing like you describe.
Can you give us some more detail? |
Re: Access 97 to Access 2000 conversion question
Sorry. Not much more to tell. All the functions work fine.. buttons click, macros run, reports print. It just keeps growing. I have never seen anything like it. It started at 63,304 kb. It has only been a week and only 300 records have been put in the file. Now it is at 524,580kb. I opened the db today and just let it sit there. It grew with no help on its own. It has to be possessed or something.
They should be testing my other version sometime this week. I wonder what it is going to do. |

What is making it get bigger?
Are more records being added automaticly or what? |
Re: Access 97 to Access 2000 conversion question
No, no records except the one import. I will probably end up going and breaking up all the code to figure this out. This is one that was written by a person that no longer works here. I am not going to rip this thing apart. It would be faster for me to rebuild it. I have one more database to convert. Thanks for giving it some thought. I will let you know if I figure anything out.
