Honestly, I'd want the X800 XT PE with 2 GB of Corsair TwinX DDR ram and a AMD FX chipset. I'd have 2 SATA Raid 0 arrays each with 2 200 GB hdds which would be 800 GB. That would be stacked on a nice Asus board ;) .

It's funny how the ram is the most expensive part of that system...I'd also go for the much better 9800 Pro, because it's about the same price with more fps...

yea but I think he's a little anti-ati...

and no dream system should be under $1k... we call those ultra budget systems...

as long as it plays Doom3 smoothly, I'm fine with it. Though if I get enough I might get a 6800

on the subject do DVI -> VGA converters actually work, and well?

Cannon 09-27-2004 03:00 PM

what ever suits him, is what i say go ati tho...

Jason425 09-27-2004 03:19 PM

dunno because i've never used one... and hope to never have to.
I'd assume they're not much worse than VGA, and at that point, you probably won't notice a difference..

oh, and aren't you some leet programer? can't programers afford more than that? Either that, or you just budget like .75% of your budget to comp stuff
