Video Card Comparison

I've got an ATI 9200SE video card and I want to upgrade. I'm so sick of the VPU recovery errors that I'm thinking of switching to an Nvidia 5700LE. Is this a better card than the 9200? (I would think so since it's about twice the price.) I want it mainly for Doom 3. Also has anyone ever seen a comparison chart that showed ATI/Nvidia equivilents?

lol... for doom 3- both suck.. balls.. if you want to play doom 3 with any kind of dignity i'd recommend at least a 9800pro or 6800... but the 5700le is probably a little bit better than the ghastly 9200se..

dont go for a 6800 unless you are willing to spend $270 at least. 9800 pros are really cheap now (just under $200) and probably the best option in your case. the new 4.10 catalyst work well with doom 3 so you dont have to worry about the nvidia > ati issue for doom 3.

the only comparison equivilent article i can think of is here: http://www.hothardware.com/viewartic...leid=438&cid=2
keep in mind those are older cards.

for cheap 9800 pricing.

I found a 6800 OC for $300.00. I noticed that the 9800 Pro was $199.00 on sale at Best Buy but like I said, I'm tired of fighting these VPU errors. I've tried every Catalyst from 3.9 to 4.10, completely unistalling evrything between each version. I've also tried every setting in my CMOS that might affect it. I just don't hear the Nvidia people complaining as much about video errors, so I figured I'd give them a try.

disagree - the vanilla 6800 can be had for $250 if you look hard enough - and sometimes can be modded... with the new technology - it's the better choice - especially for new games..

lol, what coincidence. i am actually selling my 6800.. was about to RMA back to newegg. but, you can have it for $250 shipped. I'll include far cry which came with it. this is the model:
