Access .mdb file issue

Hey all,

Ok using Access Ver 7 cannot open an .mdb file on a win98 Box.

C:\Documents & Settings\userdir\Desktop\friends\friends.mdb

The parameter is incorrect.

Have saved it to disk, zipped and re-emailed it to them, have mailed to them via diskette you name it. Everyone else on the planet can open the damn file.

Have thus far found zero on the Knowledge Base. ARGH. Too tired. Any suggestions? And yes they can open other .mdb diles no problems. Screwy huhd?

Re: Access .mdb file issue

i haven't used access ver. 7, but many older programs cant have spaces or more than 8 or 15 characters in the path. try putting it in c:\ so it looks like c:\friends.mdb.

Re: Access .mdb file issue

As long as you physically have Access installed on your pc you should have no problems opening the file.

I am assuming the mdb is a 97 file and not 2K. If it is a 2k file and you are running 97, you will get an "unrecoginzed format" error. If you are running 2k and the file is 97 it will ask you to convert.

Are you getting any kind of error? or is it just not opening.

Are you double clicking the file name or are you going through Access and opening the file that way?

If you are going through Access then try finding the file using explorer. Double click on it and see if it will open.

Let me know how it works.
