Keep your shockwave files on your hard drive
Do you have some shockwave files you love to watch. Does it piss you off that you have a dial up and you have to download the file every damn time. Fear not. From the closet of cheap (see also free) tricks there is another way. Start by empting out your Temporary Internet Folder. Don't go to any other page just the one you want to save. load and watch the shockwave file. search your TIF for any .swf files. Rename it and save it to another folder. The first time you open it windows won't know how to open it. Just open it with internet exploerer and provided you have the shockwave plug-in (if you don't how did you watch if the first time?) it should work. I've done it on a few sites and it may not work all the time but I know it works on whatever I've throwed at it. Let me know if ya'll have allready heard of this and I'll crawl back under my rock 'cause I didn't hear it where I've been hidin'.

Re: Keep your shockwave files on your hard drive
I have a sweet Shockwave file I've kept through three + reformats. I'll see if it works to attach it to this. Actually, now that I look at it, it's .dcr. I'm not sure how that differs from .swf, but whatever. It's fun, so play it.

Re: Keep your shockwave files on your hard drive
Another way is to open the page you that contains the *.swi you want, open the source code in notepad or other text editor and search for *.swi or any other type of file you want, and download the file from the url you find doing the search.

Re: Keep your shockwave files on your hard drive
goto the page with the swf in. view source, find the reference to .swf, copy the full url OR get the url from the address bar
open up notepad, put in anything, save as .html, open up, right click on the link 'save target as', i recommend this for pictures as well (animated ones, static use print screen for) ;D |
