posts missing?

either i am screwed up or there are posts going missing.....

i checked back on a thread and a whole chunk of it was gone

i'm going crazy aren't i?

StinkyMojo 03-03-2005 04:16 PM

what thread?!

cherrypie 03-03-2005 04:24 PM

well thats the thing there have been a couple.....

i'm just starting to wonder because some threads i go to check back on and i could have sworn there were more posts or posts directed at me.... and it doesn't seem like they were deleted or partially removed for any real reason.....

i'm just trying to figure out if i am going crazy.....

Jason425 03-04-2005 02:57 PM

no, some rogue mod is draining the forum of our posts!

vee_ess 03-05-2005 12:18 PM

It's me. When there are threads where people are requesting help, I delete off-topic posts. Threads that are mainly just chatting, I leave alone, since it isn't hurting anything, unless it's getting aggressive and out of hand. If you don't want your posts deleted, don't spam in those threads; we are here to help people with computer problems after all, arent' we?

cherrypie 03-05-2005 05:39 PM

YOU????

look just because a thread goes briefly off topic, doesn't mean it is spam, and is certainly not reason for an entire chunk of a thread to go missing.... there is a difference between deleting offensive posts and deleting innocent off topic posts, and all you had to say was "this thread is getting off topic, if you want to chat like this move it elsewhere"

it is especially NOT OK for you to be deleting posts made by other staff members or mods! who gave you authority over other staff members?

Big thumbs up to you cherry. If you seem to hold your position in such high esteem, why don't you show it in quality. Also, I would just like to remind you that I used to mention it and try to redirect conversations, but you aren't the most innocent, as you would say, in allowing that to happen. It seems to be a common problem lately, with people posting before thinking.

BTW, I'm shocked that you think more off-topic posts than on-topic posts is such an innocent offense. Maybe that's the reason why people sometimes repeatedly post their problems (let me explain that one out for you: they don't like sorting through majority spam to find a few possible solutions, they can get prompt help elsewhere). Generally, since the most frequent staff members tend to be among the worst in these issues, it really isn't up to me to inform them each time, since one would think it's apparent they could figure it out.

First off, I'm glad to see Jason425 can link images. Job well done...and good job on not being rhetorical, people like that in a thread.

Secondly, cherrypie. Just be mature and abide by the more mature moderator who has been around these forums long enough to know what is and isn't appropriate for threads. As a staff member, I would suggest not carrying on any further with this issue, and settle in through PM's...it is afterall what they are there for. That, or you have the alternative of whoring up this thread, only digging yourself a deeper hole in the end.

Reminder: You can split topics into new threads if something gets off topic. Be cool.
