WEP hackers

I read a blog online and the author said that hackers can actually use your WEP to hack other people-thus tracing back to you as the criminal. Can that really happen? How can you determine whether or not someone is using your WEP?[/i]

yes it can happen

easiest way is to see how many mac addresses are connected to your network.... most routers you can do that.....

for example - you only have 2 pc's on your wireless network, but 3 mac addresses connecting...... then you may have a problem and should probably get some security going

further, many routers have a function where you have to have a certain MAC address in order to logon. This is not a perfect layer of security, but it is yet another one that I think is worth it. However, WEP is fundamentally broken and should be avoided. Try using WAP, which is also somewhat broken, but much less so than WEP. WAP2 (isn't what they are calling it) is unbroken, as far as we know at least, though it isn't a completed spec nor is it supported by most hardware.
