Just for reference, something like this could be quite useful if you're trying to run something along the lines of m0n0wall on a generic PC, but would like to reduce heat, power consumption, noise, and common points of failure.

True. I think it is a good/clever idea however I think the amount of people actually utilizing those would be very slim even if it was a 16GB compact flash card. Especially with the growing popularity of USB drives.
