Re: voided CPU warranty
Well, two questions:
-What was the original clock speed and what family processor was it? (I might be missing some of the information on the pic, though...) -Why are you running Windows 98? |

Re: voided CPU warranty
OCing doesn't always mean warranty voided! :)
I oced 2 cpus and they all died out on me :) i just complained to the store, What the blood! I come here and expect quality and u give me shit. Look ur cpus died within a few months. That sucks now give me another one.. Ok sir we're sorry we'd be glad to give you another one... Just remove the traces of ocing. like the conductive pen on AMD Cpus I'm not saying keeping your warranty is good :) i'm just stating a fact ;P WARRANTY IS BAAAD! ITS BAD LIKE YOUR MAD! ::) lol |
Re: voided CPU warranty
but if you alter a product, lets says AMD's TBird with say a conductive pen and overclock it higher then it's sold value, you ARE voiding your waranty. You removed all indications of voiding your warranty and they replaced, as they should have if it wasn't OC'ed :)

Re: voided CPU warranty
I think what everyone's trying to say is that:
It's all well and good to technically void your warranty by overclocking, but it's likely that you can trick some place into thinking you didn't actually void the warranty, by erasing any evidence showing otherwise. Personally, though, I wouldn't count on being able to get away with tricking some place into replacing your broken CPU. IMO, XDiGiTaLX lucked out, a LOT. He could have been out some major dough if the store would have been a little more conservative. |
