Bypassing Port Blocking?
Anyone know how I can access a port that is blocked? Or re-direct traffic to another port? For example, I installed AIM on my flash drive. But when I launch it at my school, it cannot connect. This is because most schools block all ports except 80, and a few others. AIM uses port 5190. Is there any way I can access AIM by redirecting traffic through port 80 (http) or some other way? And I cannot use a web AIM because the only ones I know of, meebo.com and aim express, don't work through a web proxy. Any ideas?
P.S. If you can't help, but know of other Web AIM sites I can try other than meebo and aim express that would be great! Thanks! |
I almost told you how to do this (as in, I wrote up the response). But then I realized you should probably be working while at school. The school computers are there for your educational benefit, not your social life. Besides, how many of your friends are online while you are at school? They are, afterall, also at school. Try learning at school, it actually is fun. And if you learn enough and do your own research, you can figure out the answer to this question in about 30 seconds, if you are able to run programs from a keychain device. Until then, work on improving your mind.
/me returns to rocking chair w/ walking cane and my stack of books in the library. I've been here since 4 in the morning and am cranky. |

P.S. I have NO use for AIM during school because no one would be on anyways. This is a fix for my friend that is on the school computers after school because he does not have internet access at home. His dad is a Substitute teacher at my school and so my friend has to be there a few hours after school every day. Hope that clears things up... |
