By performance do you mean temperature-wise?  I didn't think there was actually any data transfer performance increases obtained from rounded cables versus standard ribbon cables.  I'd be interested to hear about it if there was, though.  I've been considering getting some, but I always seem to have something higher on my priority list (or 10 things... :p).

theres not really a preforamce increase as they are ATA66/100 cables. Same as your standard flat ribbion ones. However they do allow for better air flow and hence possibly better cpu and case temps! They are also nice to work with - if you've tried to twist a flat ribbion to connect say 2 hard drives, it's a pain. With the these since there round it's nothing to put 1 or even 2 twists into these cables. They even look nice if you have a case window and with the right light ( black light with white round cables!! ). I'd go for them, wait I did :)

that bought cables are rather pricy. i´ve cut my standard ata100 cables into 5 wire strings and rounded them with clear spiral wrap, no measurable differences between temps (there are too much fans inside my case for one cable to make a big impact. but it looks good and sure is much easier to handle

You can also get rounded cables at 3dcool.com.  They have floppy (1 and 2 device) cables, ATA/100 in two lengths, and SCSI 50 and 68 pin cables in different varieties.
