Nintendo "Revolution" now called "Wii"

"Nintendo today announced the new name of their next-generation console, previously codenamed "Revolution." The new name is "Wii," pronounced like the word "wee.""

I know revolution is a code name, but they should have kept it to that. More details here.

What isn't Japan?

Are you aware that Nintendo is a Japanese corporation? It has gone international with it's product but where is it's HQ?

So where's the shame? To me revolution is a cliche and arrogant title for a new product.

I know it's Japanese, but that doesn't mean the name fits cultures that aren't Japanese.

Sure, revolution is a little arrogant, but better to be arrogant than to not sell because of a bad name.

I could care less, I have no stock in nintendo and I don't plan on paying for their product. Hey, or even their market sector.

It kinda is a wierd name, but again its whats on the inside.

xbox worked because it has the infamous X in it... anything with an x sells better.
