Problem with hp computer
 
Hello my name is stephen and i am 16.. i went to get on my computer and after the screen that allows you 2 go to system recovery and ur bios... after that screen it went to a black screen and it said windows couldnot startup because a file is missing or currupt and the file it lists is windows root>\system32\hal.dll. ......... i tried the recovery cd that wipes out everything and goes back to the way u bought it and it will not let me it says it cannot because of unknown hardware.... i need answers fast i tried all i can.. could this be from a hacker??? reply to the post plz

hi stephen,

seems like a system file (hal.dll) has been corrupted...all you need to do is insert the operating system CD (...windows 98,2000,xp...) and re-install your operating system.

Try Windows recovery, and replace the hal.dll in your system with the one on the CD. Use the command extract to do so.
