The next step "Fiber Optic"
I just had to post that I read the other day that Intel has already begun development of a Fiberoptic Mobo and Cpu.
They estimate that not only will it run at an unnaturally low temp but also average out at about 10GB processor speed right in the beginning. I really hope I dont get hit by a bus or die in some other way before the new computer revolution hits. :) (Quote from intel site.) We’re looking into faster ways of moving data within a chip, between chips, between chips and devices, and between systems and subsystems in different chassis. Probably the area with the greatest potential for a quantum performance leap is optical signaling at the micro level. We’re researching building lasers into silicon to move data between chips and devices at fiber optic speeds, |
Re: The next step "Fiber Optic"
they are developing the wrong thing, cuz "nanotubes" (carbon hexagons forming a tube in the molecular level) have been formed into transistors that can be placed so that the are around 600+ gigahertz. theoretically, they can go to several terahertz. i will get more info.

Re: The next step "Fiber Optic"
that's crazy man, i hope i don't die b4 they come either, that would suck, have u found anymore info on 'em?
|
Re: The next step "Fiber Optic"
crazy! i hope that they will update us on when they plan on releasing the mobo! looking good, when do u think that they are gonna let us get our hands on it!
|
IBM started doing that long ago
so is Xerox PARC nanotubing isnt new anymore but it sure is new to some of the people it is gonna give us some wows imagine having a computer as powerful as those star trek ones hehe |
Imagine SS Enterprise computer with Windows 98 on it?
Make it so! CB-Byte |
what???
what about Bakula's ship having win98??? dont see the relevance  |
U'r Evilness, the computer aboard Enterprise might be using the technology mentioned by Vee_Ess.
CB-Byte  |
but win98 is so irrelevant
lol anyways... win2230 is more like it  |
U'r Evilness,
Would it be lightning fast if Win98 boot to that kind of Computer? I never thought of Win2230. CB-Byte |
