? about AMD processors

ok, so are Durons to Athlons what Celerons are to Pentiums?

thanks!

later.

That's the theory.  Duron and Celeron's are budget chips while Athlon and Pentium are preformace chips.  But with current chip prices go for the big boys.  Celeron's are very neutered and Athlon's for the most part are very cheap to buy.

And Difference 2 is:

Celerons and Durons have a smaller internal cache, then Athlons and Pentiums

Re: ? about AMD processors

yes, but Duron kicks the crap out of Celeron, like Athlon kicks the crap out of Pentium...I remeber when they tried comparing Pentium 3's to Athlons...what a joke!   ;)

Re: ? about AMD processors

Another diff

Cele's and Dur's only work off a 100mhz bus (I think cele's do). And Athlons and P4/3 Work off 133mhz bus (266DDR for Athlon through)

Re: ? about AMD processors

Actually Celeron's only run a 66 MHz bus.  Like I said their really neutered.

Re: ? about AMD processors

Yeah, and the P4 is a 100/133 mhz bus that is QDR (quadruple data rate).

Re: ? about AMD processors

Yeah but who makes QDR ram? nobody, so, it's a bottleneck

Couple corrections...

1)  Not that I like intel, but the Celeron has 66MHz, 100MHz, 133MHz, and 400MHz bus  :o (I just now found out they went past 100MHz...)

2) I believe the P4 can have QDR with RDRAM, or thats what I heard....
