Permisions
I am still on my sound file permisions. They are being a real drag but here is what I know so far. If I log in as root and check my permisions I get this
crw-r--r-- root users time dsp crw-r--r-- root users time dsp1 crw-r--r-- root users time audio crw-r--r-- root users time audio1 crw-r--r-- root users time mixer crw-r--r-- root users time mixer1 crw-r--r-- root users time sequencer Now while logged in as root and switching to virtual terminal 2 and logging in as one of the three users I have set up, my permisions change to this crw------- $LOGNAME users time dsp crw------- $LOGNAME users time dsp1 crw------- $LOGNAME users time audio crw------- $LOGNAME users time audio1 crw------- $LOGNAME users time mixer crw------- $LOGNAME users time mixer1 crw------- $LOGNAME users time sequencer Now if I switch to Virtual Terminal 3 and log in as another user my permisions stay as above with the first user logged in as the owner. If I logout Virtual terminal 2 then permisions go back to the first set above with root as the owner. What I want to do is make it so that when I login as a different user on a different virtual table that my permisions will always be -rw-rw-rw- blah blah blah blah Can anyone help? |
Re: Permisions
Sorry, I really don't know that much about permissions junk. I just wanted to let you know that someone actually has read your post. I hate it when no one even acknowledges the post's presence, but maybe that's just me.

Re: Permisions
When you added your users did you ad them all the same? Dif groups? Did you invite any of them to join wheel? Sounds like the one with the troubles isn't on the same sheet of music.
What OS you running here by the way? |
Re: Permisions
What I am trying to do is say that everytime I add a user and tghey want to play music there won't be a problem becuase all users have the same permission on the need files. But once a user starts the needed sounds files that person takes over ownership. Which means no one else can use the sound files thus not able to play music.
That is my problem |
